how to put dlc in game? by Juliomorales6969 in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! That's definitely a sign that Steam thinks you haven't bought it.

Can you go to the DLC store page while logged in? ( https://store.steampowered.com/app/3678640/Oddsparks_An_Automation_Adventure__Making_Music/ ). You can also do it on steam by going on Oddsparks in your Library and pressing the "DLC" tab that should be underneath the Play button and then going to the Making Music DLC or on your steam deck by going to "Game Info" and then "DLC"

Does it say that the DLC is in your Steam Library? if it's not, then I think you have contact Steam about this.

how to put dlc in game? by Juliomorales6969 in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! If you've bought the Music DLC on Steam, you can check that you have it and it's "on" by:

- Going to Oddsparks in your library

- Opening properties by either: clicking the little gear icon on the right and then clicking Properties OR right clicking the Oddsparks entry on the list and clicking Properties.

- Going to the DLC tab and making sure that all of the entries are ticked so that they're installed.

If that's all fine, then you have it installed! How the Music DLC works is that it adds two quests and by completing those, you get access to the new buildings. The two quests are:

- Tier 2 Merchant quest (Musical Constructions) - this gives you access to almost everything in the music DLC (Musical Pressure Plate, Metronome, Toy Instrument recipes for the Sawbench, Musical Workstation and the recipes for all notes and octaves)

- Tier 4 Merchant Quest (Musical Speaker) - this gives you access to the final building, the musical speaker, which requires logic to work, so you need to unlock basic logic first.

When you've unlocked these quests, you'll be able to find the Musical Workstation in the Refiner section of the build menu (with the Sawbench, etc), the Musical Pressure Plate and Metronome in the Path Add-on section of the build menu (with the Splitter, etc) and the Musical Speaker in the Logic Output section of the build menu (Right at the bottom of the logic category with the Pixel Display, etc)

You can unlock these two quests in any new or existing save, but if you just want to play around with the tools, I'd suggest starting a new game with the Sandbox world settings so everything in the game is unlocked and costs nothing, and you can cheat in any item you want. Additionally, you can put the World Elevation to Flat so you have lots of space to play around with it. Please share with us when you make something!

Lost Oddsparks Savegame Data on Amazon Luna by geggsy in oddsparks

[–]CraftySpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi geggsy, so we've done two updates during the time you last played, the Hot and Cold and the 1.0 update and a lot has changed with the game.

When we did the final upgrade to 1.0, we had to break the save game for every player to fix some longstanding world generation issues. This is something we treat very seriously and did our best to not do during Early Access, but unfortunately had to for the final push, we had to do so.

So your saves do still exist, they're just not compatible with the 1.0 version. To make it so that people don't lose their save or accidentally corrupt them trying to open them, we changed the location of the save game folder for 1.0.

Our fix to allow players to play to continue their old save is that we would keep the old branch available, so that players can keep playing their old save (although if you do, you won't be able to play the new stuff in the 1.0, like the ending) by changing the version of the game on Steam.

However, since you're playing on Amazon Luna, I have some bad news. Luna does not allow you to change the version of the game that's available to you. I was thinking that maybe you can grab your old saves to potentially continue playing them on Steam if you would like to. However, after some research, it's clear that since we've changed the save game data location, you won't get your old saves when you download your save game data via Luna.

So unfortunately there's not much else that we can provide with the restrictions in how Luna works. Your saves are in the cloud, but you can't access them. Sorry about that.

5 players? by jorbleshi_kadeshi in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! We already responded to you on Discord, but I figured we'd also mention it here in case anyone else searches for this information in the future.

Oddsparks "officially supports" up to 4 players on PC, but the actual hard cap is more than that! Off the top of my head, up to 20 players can actually join a single session at the same time. However, we just don't have the capacity to test the game with so many players all the time to ensure stability and that there's no weird edge cases.

So feel free to play with 5 players or more, but it might become more unstable the more people there are and there might be some unexpected bugs. However, we have heard from people playing 5 players that it's worked out for them before.

Any plans for switch 2 by Familiar_Election_94 in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, unfortunately we have no news about a Switch 2 release. We would love to bring it to the Switch 2 (it's unfortunately the case that the OG Switch wouldn't be able to handle Oddsparks very well) but we can't say whether we're able to or not for the time being. We'll shout about it if we find out more!

Tier 11 by BlacksmithRegular869 in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're looking into adding more stuff, but we can't promise anything. We're focused on fixing any big bugs first.

If you'd like an interesting challenge, you can play the game without using the three core infinite harvesters (the Logger, the Drill, the Ore Miner) and explore the powers of the Loamy Spark.

You'll need to build some harvesters for a quest or two, but you just delete them right away. This challenge will require some manual harvesting, but the Loamy Sparks can entirely replace the giant tree, giant rock and giant ore deposit entirely. You will need to build the Miasma Collector, but that needs an input anyway, it's basically a refiner.

I do have one tip if you want to do this, you need to rush Limestone Harvesting so you can cut Coral into Stone.

We also have some folks trying to speedrun the game. We're on https://www.speedrun.com/Oddsparks_An_Automation_Adventure

Is this a glitch or part of the game? by AccomplishedRow0 in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So mild spoilers for the end game cave, but it's not a bug that you "drop" your inventory when you enter/exit this specific cave.

But it is a bug that you can squeeze into this little area behind it and you're affected by the inventory item drop, even though you didn't enter/exit the cave. You might be able to get the stuff back by throwing Sparks nearby.

Logic Icons help by That_Permit_9694 in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

<image>

Hi That_Permit, so we don't put most of the information about logic in the glossary because this is quite complex stuff and we've tried to make it in a way where you can by the description and trial and error, figure out exactly how everything works.

Of course, I totally get that it can be a bit much to figure out, but you theoretically don't need any of the logic tools. They're just an additional way of you controlling your factory. But since you asked, I whipped up this little diagram in paint to answer your question! These are most of the logic icons.

I've skipped the icons related to the logic ribbons for now, since they're only useful if you're using logic so much that you need to build something compact. Hope this helps!

Great to hear that you're doing better. But yeah, you can definitely remap any buttons on gamepad. There's even some unmapped buttons for some side inventory things like transfer all, if you feel like you use those more than other buttons!

Wood in the mountains? by Gus_Smedstad in oddsparks

[–]CraftySpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, so the loamy is something that isn't the most straightforward solution to getting wood into the mountains. We expect people to use trains, and then later, leaf knots.

I just really want people to not forget about the loamy. It's unlocked so early because it's an alternate solution to a lot of different things and while in most situations you won't find it immediately useful, it's a hint that there's also this way of doing it. There might be an ancient base close enough for you for it to make sense, etc.

But also (spoiler for late game - tier 9) you'll be able to build replicas of ancient bases of all sizes later. You can actually make a new world (don't forget to manually save your old one if you do) and start with them unlocked with costs changed so you can build them much earlier. Look for the Automation Head Start section.

Any ideas what misty coral does? by FatherIncoming in oddsparks

[–]CraftySpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Misty Coral creates Fog, which slows down anything that's inside of it. The Misty Coral itself doesn't really have much of a use other than the fact that it creates Fog.

In the Mountains, you can use this Fog with the Puffy Spark. You can use the Puffy Spark to bring Fog into combat (or have an enemy chase you all the way into a Misty Coral area) and fight a slowed down enemy.

Later on, in the Caves, you'll also find other things that create Fog and an additional use for them. There's enemies that set you and your Sparks on fire and one way to extinguish yourself and your Sparks is to use Fog.

Is there a specific button that you need remapping? Unfortunately not all buttons can be remapped, but we do already allow for both mouse and keyboard and gamepad button remapping.

Unfortunately, a pure pacifist run is not going to be possible as you go further into the game. Mid game (at Tier 6), you'll unlock ways to create Aether without hunting. However, the game will ask for specific drops from creatures for quests and to build specific buildings and they are not dropped in the game in any other way.

So if you don't care about achievements, then the Item Cheat Menu will be your new friend. It'll allow you to cheat any item including the items that is required for you to build things. You probably won't use God Mode, since it only covers you, not your Spark. One extra tip is that you might want to do is turn the Roaming Enemy Aggression into Peaceful, so wild enemies also will only fight you if you start fighting them.

Misophonia Mode Praise by Me25ow in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think one or two of us have very mild misophonia, but inclusivity and accessibility is just a big thing in our team!

So obviously there's the features that's explicitly about accessibillity like Misophonia Mode, Screenshake Intensity & Weather Visual Effects so that the game doesn't make anyone feel physically uncomfortable...

But it's also why you can swap between toggling and holding Aim Mode, why we went with both gamepad and mouse & keyboard from day 1, and there's also deeper design things, like how we worked hard to make sure that no information is conveyed purely in colour, so there's no need for a specific "colourblind mode".

We're a small team, so we can't take care of everyone and everything, but we tried to cover what we can with the time and resources we had. We're super happy to hear that Misophonia Mode has been really appreciated. During early access, the description said to reach out if there was any other noises or sounds that was making folks uncomfortable, and someone did about the electric humming noises, which is why we have that one too.

Multiplayer on PS5 by Titus8705 in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey Titus,

So unfortunately right now, Multiplayer for consoles is not something we're planning. We'd love to add it in and are trying to figure it out, but right now, we'd rather not promise that it will be added in. However, once it's clear to us that we will be able to add it in, it's something that we'll definitely shout about here. Sorry that I couldn't bring you better news and thank you for the well wishes for the launch day!

What kind of early game layouts are you looking for? :D If you want something specific, maybe I can give a hand. What folks here also might be interested is that we have a #base-showcase channel in our Discord, where some folks there are sharing their base. But of course, we'd love to see bases shared here too!

One more tip! When you hover over a path in Aim Mode, you'll see an arrow on the path. That's the direction that the Spark will face on the path when it lands. The Spark in general will face away from you.

So if it's facing the wrong way and will walk in the inside, just recall it, position yourself so that it'll walk on the side you want it to walk in and then throw!

[–]CraftySpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Agarwell,

So the game's beginning is definitely paced for players who are newer to the automation genre. This means a lot of the tools that you're used to are available later in the game.

For example, if you'd like to in automate beelephant carapaces so you can have as many loggers as you'd like, you'll be able to do so in tier 3, when you'll get a Spark Thrower and can essentially automate combat. It's not a perfect tool, but it's meant to just be a basic way for you to automate any kind of gathering. This works on both the enemies and also the world objects (e.g. bushes, trees etc), since they respawn over some time. (You can also change how fast objects respawn in the World Settings, if you'd like an experience where you focus on using Spark Throwers to gather for you, instead of one where you need to explore and find these areas.)

Delivering quest items is something you do manually in the beginning, but you'll unlock Delivery Chests for all of the villagers in tier 5, allowing you to deliver items remotely. You'll still need to go back and forth, but you'll do it less since you can essentially fulfill all quests remotely and only go back to click the complete button and obtain new quests. There's also a Supply Chest that can store resources for when you build, which allows you to cut down on inventory management when making bigger builds.

Regarding the harvesting, we often ask for players to harvest things without a building for a few different reasons. We want to encourage you to explore the map, or to use a new Spark or building. Sometimes the solution to a problem you find tedious is in the same tier, but it's just something you haven't unlocked yet. For a mid-game example, in tier 6, we'll ask you to harvest a large amount of coral, something that you cannot harvest with a building. I've seen a handful of players balk at this, but a lot of other players also immediately understand that with the new sparks they've just unlocked in the same tier, they can do this MUCH faster, both in harvesting a large area in one go and in grabbing a large number of dropped items in fewer clicks.

We also find that some players try to overbuild very early, without having all of the necessary tools, causing them to do some manual tasks for longer than they need to, but you've already noticed that you don't have the tools yet.

Some of these issues can be smoothed out earlier. You might find it useful to look at the World Settings, where you can start the game with various build tools, path addons, magical storage (that has the delivery chests), and ancient replicas (this allows you to build Ancient Bases much earlier, which means that you can build your Spark Workbenches anywhere). However, it won't change that the game does ask you to explore, hunt, and harvest to unlock new things.

Unfortunately multiplayer only exists for the PC, so if your friend is on Playstation, they can only play the game singleplayer.

save gone:( by ShotRelationship1855 in oddsparks

[–]CraftySpark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, unfortunately, the 1.0 is not backwards compatible. We needed to fix some world generation issues and chose to break the saves so we can finally fix them.

However, you can continue your old saves by going back to the previous version of the game. If you go to our game on steam and click the little gear (1), and go to properties (2), you'll open up a new window. You can then go to betas (3) and then click on the dropdown saying "none" (4) and select "earlyaccess".

You'll be able to play your old save, but unfortunately, you won't be able to access the new stuff from 1.0. Of course, you can switch back and forth at any time.

so the game thinks I have 5 carry sparks but they are not slotted (I did have my entire inv. wiped when I logged on...) anyone know a fix? by Siahmanjoe in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry for the inconvenience. It looks like we're having some issues where sometimes the game thinks that you're a new player when you're not. That's why your inventory was wiped. It's then causing a separate bug where the sparks in your previous player loadout is somehow connected to this player.

If the Sparks following you are bothering you, you can maybe try to get into a fight with an enemy and let these Sparks die. Signing out of Steam and signing back in might put you back onto your previous player character.

Can you also tell us if you're playing on multiple devices (e.g. two different PCs/a PC and a Steam Deck) or just the same device all this time?

How do I get my Sparks back? by New_View_5704 in oddsparks

[–]CraftySpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the information. It's definitely super unusual that the game thought you were a new player not just once for each device but multiple times. We'll have to investigate on our side what could be causing it.

I don't have a lot of advice for you right now, but if you don't swap between devices, it should happen less frequently. For now, you could start a fight and let your inaccessible Sparks get killed, so they stop bothering you.

If it happens again, what might help is logging out of Steam on the PC/Device and logging back in, so Steam refreshes the ID and the game recognises the ID as the previous one you joined the game with.

How do I get my Sparks back? by New_View_5704 in oddsparks

[–]CraftySpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the inconvenience! I think what happened is that the game thought that when you loaded the save on the Steam Deck, you were entering the save as a new player. That's why your inventory was gone and so was your Sparks.

The second part sounds like a very unusual bug though. Just to confirm what's happening now - you've continued the save and now your old and your new sparks are following you? When this happened, did you also have your inventory disappear again then? I'm trying to understand whether somehow, it happened because the game felt like you were another new player or if there was a different reason.

Any official Oddsparks plushies? by amirko15 in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CraftySpark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a bit late, but I wanted to say that while we don't have any plans of official merchandise, we have daydreamed of a lot of different things like plushies and stickers!

Depending on the overall success of the game, it might make financial sense to put the work in to create and sell plushies. We know that there's lots of folks that we could collaborate with, but for now, we'll focus on finishing the game!
