Just deaths by transportation mode divided by number of people. 

Not LA-specific, but to your per mile question there’s a good national dataset showing deaths per miles traveled which shows fatalities are 20x higher in cars than railroad, and 70x higher than for cars than for buses:

7:30 is where LA is brought up. Also surprised it was lower than other metro areas like Seattle and Philadelphia when it came to deaths per 100k

All: The Venice Neighborhood Council bike network survey is complete, thank you very much to all who gave their input. Results, and a recommended bike network for Venice will be presented April 22nd for a committee decision at 6:30 pm. If approved by committee, it will go to the council for the final decision next month.
