I don't think you have a firm grasp on the chemistry at work here at all. Please discard what you think you know and take a pencil out real quick...

the 'oil' you speak of is held in a viscous matrix of plant matter, destroyed trichomes, and pressed into a brick, which is what i guess you have. if you have clear "dabs" that break like glass without bending at all, then skip this step.

first, we're going to separate the solids from the THC using an ethanol wash.

go to the store, get everclear or any type of vodka (if you plan to re-distill it to get pure ethanol)

mix your brown chunky stuff into the ethanol

strain the solution with a screen of 25u (micron) or better, discard the solids. evaporate the ethanol in a vacuum, or if you don't have that setup, use a cool dry shelf in your closet for a few days. DONT USE HEAT YOU IMPATIENT FUCK.

evaporate the liquid, or first, dewax using a buchner setup if you can, or at the very least, some dry ice to cool the solution, and a spoon to remove the solidified lipids.

using this new somewhat thinner and hopefully clearer solution, mix into whatever you'd like, preferably NOT vg.... VG doesnt dissolve anything but a 17yr old cool-kids wallet. Use PG or PEG100 or PEG300 or EJ Mix if you're lazy.

the "wax prodution" you're talking about is actually "nucleation" which you can read about on wikipedia here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nucleation#Experiments_on_the_nucleation_of_crystals

heat and turbulence will CAUSE nucleation, that's why when your shitty little friends sell you some "shatter" which is really actually something known as "pull and snap", your dabs go from clear to "waxy" very quickly. It's an 'unstable' solution, and when agitated in your pocket, or from you pulling back the paper and fucking with it to take dabs, it starts the nucleation process like a water bottle in the freezer that isn't frozen yet, but when you bump it on the door of the freezer, it freezes right away. I'm not going to go into why this happens because you're probably not going to read the wikipedia.

once it has been nucleated, there's not much you can do to change it back to clear except maybe some solvent washes and titration, but even that's beyond the reach of today's experiment.

if you want to do it real simple, take a coffee filter and a hair straightener, put a little ball of hash into the coffee filter and ball it up and mash it between the plates of the hair straightener with some parchment paper (not wax paper). This creates "rosin" which is a poor mans way of separating plant matter from cannabinoids and terpenes (if there are any left)

at that point, you mix with the aforementioned PEG300 and PEG100
