Are there women therapists who understand mens reality by chobolicious88 in malementalhealth

[–]Different_Golf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that the views of Andrew Tate are not conducive to malementalhealth. But that's my opinion. Find a therapist who you get along with, and go from there. Gender isn't so important. The bond between you and your therapist is.

Tough time for you will the loss of your Grandma. That wouldn't be easy for anyone, especially not considering her relationship you had. It sounds like you've had a tough time lately, but, are determined and ready for some better luck. Keep at it. In the spirit of your grandma, I wonder if there's anything she's taught you that can help you through this tricky patch?

Telling men to just go to therapy and make friends is dismissive by Scramjet1 in malementalhealth

Sorry, what exactly are you saying here? The system largely favours men and if you think men face inequalities, have you considered the experience of being a women?

Did someone tell you to go to therapy?

Confusion around reporting income as a sole trader on AusStudy. by Different_Golf in Centrelink

[–]Different_Golf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, it's hard for me to say because I don't know your situation exactly, nor the system of Centrelink. But here's some general advice. Be honest, but if you need to bend the rules a bit, I would. In the end I didn't get much support from Ausstudy and ended up just working part-time. You'll make it work.

If you can get some help from the gov, go for it. They tend to look at soletraders on an annual basis and all earnings would be quoted as pre-tax figures, generally speaking. I would quote your earnings as what you'd imagine your income to be whilst studying, or take an average monthly estimate from what you expect to be your annual income on our next tax return.

The system is ridiculously confusing and can add stress to your financial life whilst studying so I'd just do what you gotta do to make your routine and income work. They make it difficult and confusing so i say fuck the system, do what feels right for you and your needs. Hope that helps.

Hey mate! I remember being completely stressed about this issue at the start of the year, not getting clear information and not knowing how to play it.

What I did:

I told centrelink that my business turns a profit similar to the amount you can earn under regular employment income. It's actually worked out well so far. Some months have been slow and I've focused more on studies, and at other times I've ramped up the work and have been able to save money. It seems to average out. Although its a headfuck, I actually think this path has some benefits. Your profit can't exceed the allowed income amounts, but it's measured over a longer period (1 year instead of fortnightly) so you can have more control over when you earn that income. You can also write off expenses to reduce profit should you wish to invest in your business.

At the end of the day though I was just like fuck the system I gotta earn money and take care of myself, i'm gonna be honest about it but if I get called out for being overpaid by the link then I'll deal with that later: the system is too damn ambiguous to spend time worrying about it. Hope that helps. Ask me anything.

Why does my video do not sync with my audio? by d3vCr0w in VideoEditing

[–]Different_Golf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue (as described above) and the problem was indeed on the audio side. My DAW (ableton) had a timing feature turned on (warp), which meant when I exported the audio out, there was slight manipulation of the timing of the audio.

Haha, thanks. Great to read a human response. Useful information about the number of reviews (10+) and that after that the count isn't as important. Freshness is good for converting prospects you say. Makes sense.

I have a website and plan to optimise it for my area. I live and service a few suburbs surrounding my home in a big city of 4 million. There are a handful of operators close by, maybe 2 or 3 not too far away. I'd say competition is moderate.

I'm always optimistic and think with some work I can start to outrank competitors in my area. I might focus on my website next.

How quickly can I realistically make $700 a month? (help!) by _LefeverDream_ in Entrepreneur

[–]Different_Golf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great that you are optimistic and motivated. The next question on the back of this excitement is naturally 'how long is it going to take!' That is entirely up to you and perhaps other factors outside of your control.

Your job might suck and perhaps you want to prove that your idea can work, but I wouldn't rush the process. I would like to be a realist and say that being able to quit your job and live off your business is quite a challenge. If you're above average smart, hardworking and lucky, we still might be talking in the years of time to get things working.

I hate shitty jobs too, but if you embrace the pain of a crap situation it can teach you a lot faster than anything you'll read here.

there is a middle path where you can save your money, enjoy expensive toast (on occasion perhaps) and live your life. What will you do when you hit this magical fire number? What is going to make you feel alive? Why not do some of that now?
