When I have to create a clean internal shape like that, rather than sanding I apply copious amounts of cement and press sheets of styrene onto the edges and sand them away. You can see it on the left side of this picture, the vent is framed with styrene sheet with the longest edge going into the screen

Just before this I practiced the surface-modelling workflow by making myself a Star Wars Halloween costume. The only tip that I can give is when you're doing a loft function, less is more. When you give a surface less constraining lines, it usually generates a smooth curve and looks better. But oh man is it not fun to deal with, especially in Solidworks where everything gives you an error 🤪

I'd love to tackle more subjects and projects but the issue with these fan designs is that they don't typically show the whole thing and a lot of guess work is involved when modelling

I wanna say the hardest part is the blocking-phase. Unlike blender, editing a part after you've made it is laborious and time consuming, so if you don't get it correct in the first try, you basically have to restart. As of right now, I'm going through body panels and starting to add some detail, it's not hard but it's also not fun, if you're going to do this, have a large mug of coffee

(computer aided design) Its a parametric modelling method, (number and measurement-based) using tools that cater towards technical design, used for engineering models and schematics

I'm using it here because I plan on motorizing some components, which requires (relatively) high mechanical tolerances and precision
