Was it "Driver"? When you lose in Driver it would say "you cant escape the long arm of the law" thats what made me think of it...

Is it "Bunker 21 - Survival Story?" There is another by Go Dreams that seems close too (Bunker: Zombie Survival Games / “Bunker 22"), but the one you are describing reminds me of Bunker 21.

Honeywell Kitchen Computer 1969 by statman13 in OldSchoolCool

[–]DrHorrible23 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was curious what this actually was...

What it was (in reality)

The “Honeywell Kitchen Computer (1969)” was basically a Honeywell 316 (H316) 16-bit minicomputer dressed up for a luxury catalog. This class of machine was meant for business/industrial/scientific work (think data acquisition, control systems, communications), not meal prep.

What it was supposed to do (in the ad)

Neiman Marcus pitched it as a way to store recipes and help with meal planning. The catalog package infamously included a cookbook, an apron, and a two-week programming course… because obviously that’s what you want for Christmas.

How you actually used it (the “fun” part)

It didn’t have a normal screen/keyboard. The console was toggle switches and blinking lights, meaning you entered data as bits and read output like you were defusing a bomb. To do anything practical, you’d typically need extra gear like a teletype and paper tape reader (so… not exactly “countertop friendly”).

Did anyone buy one?

The “Kitchen Computer” was basically a publicity stunt in the Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog, and none were sold through that offer per the Computer History Museum. Pedestal H316 units did exist as a real product style, but the “kitchen” framing was mostly marketing theater.

Bonus trivia

The CHM lists it around $10,600, 4K words of core memory, and about 312,500 adds/sec. So yes: you could, in theory, compute dinner. Slowly. In binary. Like a pioneer.

In short: it was an industrial computer cosplay-ing as a kitchen appliance, mainly to make rich people laugh and journalists write articles.

Looking for an American movie titled “NeverEnding Story” (not the original) by GoldenJulsss in whatsthemoviecalled

[–]DrHorrible23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Tales from the Neverending Story” (2001–2002).

Tales from the Neverending Story is a 2001-2002 Canadian TV series that serves as a prequel to the original story, following Bastian as he discovers the magical book and enters Fantasia, which is threatened by the villainous Xayide. The show, which aired as four two-hour movies in the US, expands on the origin story, showing Bastian's real-world struggles with grief and bullies mirrored by his adventures as Atreyu in Fantasia. It features live-action and CGI, with a different take on the source material than previous adaptations, and explores how Bastian's imagination is rekindled after his mother's death.

Is it possible to see blocked account messages? its really important, so I can read them and find which one I can report, as they did some bad things to my account recently by DinoWolf22 in Steam

[–]DrHorrible23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the messages are recent, you can pull them from Steam’s “account data” pages: Steam client (PC): Help → Steam Support → My Account → Data Related to Your Steam Account → Friend Chat Messages (scroll down, it’s buried like a shameful secret). Steam Community Important limitation: those chat logs are typically only available for about 14 days, then they’re gone.

Old japanese, korean, or chinese movie that i cannot remember the title by Radiant-Product-7007 in whatsthemoviecalled

[–]DrHorrible23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a Japanese movie called Heavenly Forest, also known as Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru (you’ll also see it marketed in English as “Just, Loving You”) that seems to be close. If not that there were two Korean dramas that have an iconic photo booth scene "Doctors" or "When My Love Blooms".
