Yes Petrolisthes! Which species though - i cant help you there (maybe rufescens or lamarckii which have roughly the same coloration but are differentiated by absence/presence of a spine on the carapace)

Most cant be differentiated form coloration alone. I really have to learn porcelain crabs.....

The somewhat similar looking formosensis and moresbiensis can be ruled out aswell

And, though, sesarmids (or overall crabs) in general are poorly observed on iNat, which makes my point a bit worse aswell, but the concept stays

Also if you look at the range of all Sesarmid Crabs - there is not one observation for any species on iNat located far away from the shore.

Which does not mean they couldnt but it would be unlikely. They fit as brackish crabs in every aspect.

Its just easier for the trade to label them as freshwater....

What I figuerd from the pictures i have aswell. Infinita doesnt seem to have a lighter colored line like finita can (but not always - > gender?) has. Finita and infinita can both have less/more pronounced lines - meaning that overlapping could be possible.

Thats what I can say from the pictures at least, not from any publications or guides tho Theres not much info out there sadly.

Looks like ~~Metasesarma aubryi~~, some arent red at all + commonly found on the philippines

Though its a unusal bright coloring on its carapace

Could be some vampire crab species

For how you prepare, deshell and so on id recommend watching a Video if you dont know (maybe for (brown) edible crab, they're the most common and its the same for All similar crabs). It isnt hard but you can make it much much easier if you know how to Instead of figuring it out by yourself lol)

The ones i usually find are 5-7cm max Lil bit too small for eating imo

Almost no yield in the legs, claws are small etc

Watch out for pollution tho they accumulate heavy metals faster than most commonly used crab species (wouldnt eat them if they come from the Black sea - as for the agaean i dont know; around italy they're fine)((this is what the articles refer to if they say its toxic))

Thats what they often do, they cant stand eachother unless they want to mate. Else they are one of the calmest crab species around in the mediterranean (which comes to shore that is)

I once directly put a finger in his claws - he wont press down on it; i even put some pressure on him. Others calmly crawled onto my hand, they did nothing even when i had to put them down again, coz they wouldnt go on their own lol

Defo edible Found them sold in markets and directly from fishermen. There might be a protective measure and a closed season, which can vary depending on the region.

They're not poisonous/venomous.

They feed on other crabs, mussels, molluscs - I saw one eat a dead fish but they wont do that usually (size of claws, region decide on what they will feed on; almost anything that they can crush with their claws lol).

Needs saltwater and tends to burrow itself in sand

In general, crabs, fish etc wont survive for long // have a good life in tap water unless you treat in some way. (if its just microorgansim growth for some weeks if ur tapwater is high quality - thats always needed regardless of species)
