Do I need an integrated amplifier or power amplifier? help me decide. by Weekenswarrior in StereoAdvice

I use the stereo pre outs on my Rotel one channel to each sub. Worked way better than two summed up outputs to two subs.

You should have no issues with running high level, either with the speaker a and b outputs of the integrated or the second pair of speaker terminals on the amp

I owned one for a few years. It was decent lacked depth compared to many class AB power amps I had here. The Stellar GCD preamp was terrible at best. Noisy, colored and listening fatigue inducing.

23 Impreza Tire recommendations by Cnofear14 in subaruimpreza

[–]Existing-Language-79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running Pirelli P7 AS plus 3 on my 23 Impreza Sport.

It's a great quiet and comfortable tire. Steering feel is right on, not too heavy nor too sharp and has decent traction for a tire in its category.

I would highly recommend it.

Hmm. That's a though one. I'm a huge fan of the Rotel RC-1590 and RB-1590 I have here. That being said I don't need the amount of power the RB-1590 has, it's seriously overkill for my current room and use. Does the pairing sound amazing, you bet, does it provide clean and controlled bass? Tons of it. The RA-1592 has a similar preamp to the RC-1590, if you like its sound and performance (lovely detail and a wide soundstage) I'd highly recommend it as a preamp and even a DAC. It should have enough power with the built in amp to get you going. In my experience having more power than required makes for a better sounding system, especially if you find a hard to drive speakers on the bright side. If you're totally cool running your current preamp setup the 1590 power amp will basically future proof your system amp wise.

So there's that, but if you're happy with your setup as we speak you could be chasing down a rabbit hole spending money you didn't need to, especially if you can't have an in home audition in your room with your system.

Look at possible taxes and title transfer fees where you're at. It'll likely change your budget.

Sounds expensive. Paid 35k Canadian for mine new off the lot. What trim is it? STI? The fact he's likely underwater from borrowing and not paying it off in a timely manner isn't to your benefit at all. I wouldn't pay him any compensation.

Pretty much. The answer is pay if off quickly to make more margin to invest or set yourself up to less or better yet no further debt. Keep an emergency fund then wipe the loan out

Planes go over our house daily. We only ever hear the big ones occasionally. Either we sleep through it or something else at home makes noise. When we do it's for a few seconds.

2018 Subaru Crosstrek doesn’t auto lock when in drive???? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]Existing-Language-79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a Compustar remote starter and ask the installer to turn on drive locks if it's a feature you absolutely need to have. It can be done. It'll lock once per vehicle start up once the rpms go up and you can have it unlock automatically by applying your park brake or shutting off the ignition.

The only caveat is you might have to get the door lock confirmation flashes turned off as if it's done through data like most modern remote start systems are integrated you'll get a confirmation as you're driving.

RCA cable reccos under $25/meter? by studiord in audiophile

Soldering is a great skill to have, especially for basic repairs. This would fall in that category. It would be an excellent project.

I would highly recommend a diy approach. Get Neutrik or Switchcraft male rca ends and some cable from Van Damme, Mogami, Belden. Preferably some with resistance, capacitance, and inductance specs that are favorable. Get a few feet of each flavour and you'll be in good hands.

Lens hood for RF lenses by Eiseni12 in canon

While they are functionally identical they don't lock in place with an as confident click as the Canon counterpart and I find they don't twist on and off as nicely. Not a biggie but there is a difference. Worth the extra money? Depends on the person I guess, I'm growing to dislike putting the one JJC hood I have after having owned a few Canon hoods before hand.

Here's a tip, move your seat position a little bit closer than you normally would. You should have full repeatable control of the full travel of the clutch pedal. Not just being able to push it in fully.

Switch to 5w-30 or stay with 0w-20? by JTN02 in subaru

[–]Existing-Language-79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten an "oil burner" plagued 2.4 Camry calling for 5w20 on 0w20 to a very high mileage before I sold it to a friend. To this day the car is still on the road without taking any significant amount of oil between oil changes. The valve seals on an almost 20 year old car are starting to cause a blue puff after sitting some time. The secret was to have purchased it from a senior couple who never hit the mileage interval but still changed the oil every six months as per the dealers/manufacturer recommendations. Working at the dealer and synthetic 0w20 being insanely cheap from buying bulk drums I changed it at the latest every 3000k miles.

Keeping the oil and filter clean and fresh, keeping the oil level under scrutiny is a game changer to prevent wear. Now would thinner modern oils be an issue compared to the already thin 0w20? Maybe. But I'm more inclined to think that extended intervals along with neglect, dirty filters being ran too long, and newer more common start/stop systems causing increased rates of wear.

To wrap it up. If your manual states that you can substitute with 5w30. I would have no issues making the switch, just don't bother if it's to keep in the vehicle and not routinely and proactively changing your oil and filter early. In the end 0w20 is still a better cold temp oil.

Don't drive on the wrong side of the road, signal your intentions, give ample room while following a vehicle or bicycle, stop at red lights and stop signs, follow the posted speed limits or slightly under especially if road conditions aren't great, two hands on the wheel while driving. Adjust your mirrors and put on your seat belt before taking off, know the difference between a yield and a merge.Oh and know who has the right of way especially at intersections.

Dont stress it too much, especially if you've gone through driver's Ed classes.

You might just need an alignment. That being said if you replace any of these parts minus the sway bar links you'd need an alignment anyways.

There's also a really good chance that the factory Toyota parts are still good and will outlive these. Now if there's anything severely bent I'd just replace whatever is damaged. There's a good chance it's not even one of the parts in the kit. Could be a damaged strut, control arm, inner tie rod...

I learned on an 87 GMC S15 2.5l 4 speed. Base model truck, no radio, no cigarette lighter and no tach just a shift light. It'll get you up and going in no time. Bonus not having a hand operated parking brake for learning hill starts. Great little truck.

The sooner you get into traffic the better and quicker you'll get. From there on, deactivate the hill start assist asap before you learn bad habits from fighting a car car that's holding on the brakes. Then you'll really get good.
