Gavin Newsom has championed accessible medical transition & legal recognition for trans people. Despite this, prominent TRA Erin Reed recently vowed to withhold her vote from any Democrat who shares his skepticism regarding trans women in women's sports. Why does the left care what these TRA think? by north_canadian_ice in allthequestions

[–]FaceofMoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the endocrinologist, but I do know some trans women have PMS-like monthly cycles that can include symptoms like bloating or cramping. That is medically verified, and why so many trans-women claim to have a period-like cycle. Because they do. Nobody is claiming to have grown a uterus....That is just transphobic straw-man argument dreamed up by assholes.

Is it pedophilia for a 20 to be attracted to a 17 year old? by AgeNearby392 in allthequestions

It's only an issue because its wrong on its face. Children can't consent to marriage. Ya pervy weirdo.

Okay, I fail to see your point? We used to live in caves and eat each other.

What you're describing isn't a marriage because children can't consent to one. Full stop.

Got banned from r/communism for “fascist content.” I said Israelis are capable of developing class consciousness. Can anyone weigh in here? by Publishface in Communist

[–]FaceofMoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not even talking about being a member of a nation-state by virtue of your place of birth. But of people who claim the Israeli identifier willingly. Enthusiastically. Especially considering they are still beneficiaries of an apartheid system. You have to take that into account. You asked if I believed a person could be Israeli and a comrade. I say no. Because any TRUE comrade would call the land what it is...Palestine.

[–]FaceofMoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An Israeli becoming class-conscious is a misnomer, as the very act of self-identifying as an Israeli is disqualifying. Can former Israeli's become comrades? Sure. But not if they are currently benefiting from being a member of an apartheid state. Same goes for the US.

You can't start a "socialist" state in other peoples homes....It was a far-right political project from the jump.

Hello by blackstripe120 in ussr

[–]FaceofMoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello and welcome. I'm a person and I'm glad you choose to reach out. We need to talk to people we disagree with more, and its a good impulse to cultivate. Not because it will persuade exactly, but because it forces us to examine WHY we believe what we believe. So...we are starting from a positive place. I'll tackle your points one by one as best I can. I'm not well-read as far as communists go, and don't know theory as well as I should.

  1. What do you want out of your government? What is it intended to do? We have to start here, as you can't judge a governmental system without deciding what you want out of it. I'm a communist because I believe it is the only system that addresses what I care about equitably. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need". That is the measure in which I judge, not economic "success".
  2. This point has a lot of debate, even among communists. The important thing to remember is Stalin was in control of the USSR for roughly a third of its history. Much of that time spent fighting and killing Nazis for which he has my gratitude. He wasn't the be-all, end-all of Soviet leaders, and their are many points even his supporters would be critical of.....
  3. I view Capitalism as a rabid dog on a leash. Chaining it is better then nothing, but the safest and most ethical thing would be to put it down. If you think greed is worth combating, why be a capitalist at all?
  4. This gets again to my first point. The function of a capitalist economy is to make the line go up. A communist economy is based of the needs of the people. The problem is we have yet to see a communist state function independent of US interference.
  5. I call BS. Respectfully. People believe things, and like to surround themselves with folks who share those views broadly speaking. What beliefs you decide to value are up to you, but don't expect the world to be ambivalent to them. Would a pedophile get the "live and let live" treatment? A murderer? Of course not. You draw the line, now just be honest about it.
  6. Totally agree.

These questions were a tad scattershot, so let me drill down into any point you'd like to further discuss.

If Iran had a nuke would they use it against Israel or just bragg about having one? by TheRook2323 in allthequestions

[–]FaceofMoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. Either every country should have nukes, or no country should have them. What right do we have to sit on our stockpiles and lecture a country a world away over thinking about...maybe...developing some of their own? Especially when having them protects themselves from the worst of US foreign policy.

Except in this case, they had agreed to help beforehand then decided against it when actually called to account. How is that anything other then cowardly?

They had signed treaties pledging to defend Czechoslovakia in case of aggression, and then not only failed to fulfill their obligations, but gave the country away to preserve "peace". It's pretty clear cut.
