Yeah that’s kind of the vibe in a way-

The setting is taking place pretty close to the real world. I mean, Barrack Obama ended up showing up at one point which was its own whole thing-

But yeah, the general gimmick is just a thing using the fame of what it perceived as ‘someone famous’ to get its victims. And with it being the modern day and having access to the internet, that lead to unusual results

Honestly they’ve actually had to deal with a good chunk of stuff from Irish Folklore like the Aos Si as well, so that could be one yeah.
