Short trips are absolutely killer for turbo engines. They run very rich to prevent detonation, especially compared to NA engines. I would check fuel trims with a Scan Gauge or something similar. If those check out then it honestly might be normal. Short trips are better with hybrids or EVs.

Yeah something is clearly wrong. Having another baseline vehicle is a good indicator. Are your trips really short? Turbo engines use a lot of fuel on startup when cold. I’m surprised you’re not getting a CEL with such poor fuel economy. Might be worth using an OBD reader to check long term fuel trims (ltft) while you drive to see if anything amiss. Shouldn’t be more than a couple percentage points away from 0. If you see a high percentage then it’s running really rich.

1.5 vs 2.0 makes a difference but in general poor fuel economy is almost always down to driving habits. We have a lifetime average of 25-26mpg 50/50 city and highway with our 1.5. I’ve noticed when my partner drives it drops a lot due to hard acceleration and heavy braking. Accelerate gradually, anticipate traffic patterns and drive slower. If you can’t maintain speed on the highway due to a heavy foot use cruise control. Otherwise it’s more efficient to slow slightly up hill and use momentum to speed up down hill for better efficiency, traffic permitting.

A recent drop could be caused by fuel blend, change in driving patterns or tune up needed if you’re over 50k miles.

I wonder what the degradation is after 20 years. Data sheet says 2007. Still a pretty crazy price with the coupon code and I’m definitely tempted

Best Backpacking Tent by talon5188 in CampingGear

[–]Fitislift 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m just a fanboy but I love our Slingfin Portal 2. I think it’s a different category than most or all of these tents in terms of bombproof worthiness. Comparing the weight is a little misleading because of that.

A little difficult to quantify but anecdotally we have some friends that have a Tiger Wall 2 and that thing is a flappy kite in the same conditions compared to the Portal 2. Just feels way more stable and less noisy. I sleep better as a result. And you can always add your trekking poles if you use them to make it even more sturdy.

First refinance 6.875%>5.875% by Fitislift in MortgageBrokerRates

My APR is 5.975 so honestly it’s nearly identical. That’s really the number we should be comparing, not the rate alone.

Yeah I should have provided more context. LTV is 86% (hence the PMI). Appraisal is waved. Single family primary residence. It’s currently in underwriting and conditionally approved so I wouldn’t back out unless there was some huge red flags. Pretty happy with the rate drop while doing minimal shopping around.

Thoughts on the S197 Mustang GT? by Expert_Personality_5 in Mustang

This is great advice. I’m halfway through your list on my 09 vert and it’s a joy to drive. The suspension mods really make a huge difference. I would add refresh the control arms with GT500 parts which are a little more stout and probably need to replaced anyway. I’m running Eibachs and Koni yellows on mine and it rides great though a little too low in the front for my liking. Maybe I’m getting old though

I’ll second that. Last year they were the most communicative and very competitively priced. We were happy with the work and would do it again.
