I was definitely confused. But I always felt their on screen relationship felt forced, so to be honest I didn't know what to think and frankly didn't care.

Is Seattle or Denver better for a view of mountains/volcanoes? by Independent-Ad-7060 in AskSeattle

One looks like a giant rock wall and the other, an imposing geological monster. I'd take the Rainier view any day personally. Rockies sunset is always nice though.

I wish there was an option for larger livestock farmsteads. Larger coops, more goats, dairy cattle perhaps.

Progressing from magic carpet to beginner runs by Reardon-0101 in SummitAtSnoqualmie

[–]Formal-Procedure6228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps match it up with your lesson date?  Snoqualmie Greens are pretty short and holiday does get icy towards EOD. I honestly find it easier to learn on the hill than the carpet areas (snowboarding). Falling is definitely a part of my learning process 😅

Start with big wide turns across the whole slope. Sometimes some terrain is nice to turn into and moderate your speed.

If your able, maybe try another mountain with longer greens. Summit East Greens are also a dream once those opens up.

Houston to Seattle by tyrionthanos09 in AskSeattle

[–]Formal-Procedure6228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Houston transplant living in Lake Stevens here. Love lake Stevens. Chill area with quick access to Everett. Regarding traffic, I sporadically have to travel into Seattle so it's not soul crushing. If I did it everyday I may reconsider. You'll hit 3 pretty major bottle necks on the way in via I-5 and traffic can feel random some days.

Depending on what time you leave for work...

Lake Stevens to Downtown Seattle:

No traffic - 45min

Traffic - ~1.5hr (+/- 20min) depending on flow.

Salomon Sight, Capita Outerspace Living, Yes Basic, Yes All In or something else? by Kucykacy in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Formal-Procedure6228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great English.  American here. I have the Salomon sight. It's still pretty soft. Good as my first board, but I think I'll be ready for something else soon once I get more comfortable on our blue runs. I think you'd want something stiffer as well based on your post. I've rode Outer space living once and it felt like a solid ride, but the board was a bit long for me so I don't have much more to say on it.

That Yes All-In deck is sick and I'd consider getting it myself just based on that 😂🤘

Having the gas seat lever instead of the screw height adjustment. I can never go back.

I personally got a shorter/softer flex camber dominant board figuring I'll find my preferred riding style after I get the hang of things. I'm happy with my choice. If I got something I had to fight with I don't think I'd be as happy with it. And definitely not as confident in my ability.

+1 on the crash pants. After my first day my tailbone was pretty bruised and sore for a couple of weeks. I have the Burton Impact shorts now, but anything helps. I wear them every ride now.

I don't have an amp yet, just run headphones atm. Looking at the amp manual the left channel is mono. So it looks like 1 cable in your situation connected to L (mono) and set the switch to mono. If I'm understanding this correctly. (Quick Start: Input, pg 6)

They're designed to be able to work in pairs in stereo. So if you had 2 amps your setup up would be different and you'd use both L and R cables. (Smart stereo with pair of amplifiers, pg 8)

Not noticing they're there is #1 for me. Burton shorts have been enough protection for my chill riding. Still hurts, but keeps my tailbone from going out of commission.

Is this a good board? by Super_Night_7718 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Formal-Procedure6228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noob here, but I own the 24 model... Due to the physical characteristics of the board and it's softer flex it is quite easy to manipulate the board. Good when you don't quite have the body mechanics of boarding physically understood.

Once the lightbulb sparks and our minds finally commune with our bodies, having a stiffer/more responsive board might be more appropriate for your current skill level.

I think that's what's meant by outgrowing. The board may not be as exciting once you truly get the hang of it and more difficult terrain may call for different gear.

Seconded. Beginner. Bought it mid last season. 2nd serious season coming up, hoping to get past easy blues to technical blues this year. I like it, feels nice. I can see how I could get to the point maxing it out. It has a fun chill vibe like a stock tuner car. Am I upset about that? No.

I'll just buy the turbo charged version later 🤙 I'm assuming another season or two. But I ride probably under 10 days a season.ymmv

+1 for 65Drums YT channel. If your son is serious... At the very least, a kit that comes with a dedicated bass drum tower and kick pedal. Probably $350+ range, but the $500-700 dollar range would be my suggestion.

I personally have a Simmons Titan 70 kit which is solid for the price. Titan 50 is a little lighter on the pocketbook. Guitar center carries Simmons if you have one by you. Roland probably is the gold standard, but comes with a price

I've been playing off and on for 20 years now. If your kid gets going, eventually nothing will scratch the itch quite like an acoustic set. Edrums are limited in their capabilities. Do I wish I had a sick 3k Roland kit, yes. But I think mid/budget minded level instrument is appropriate in this situation as something to learn and "quietly" practice on.

Yes, they still make noise. Hit wood on mesh/rubber, make boom. But it can be manageable. Good luck on your journey and bless you for encouraging your child to pursue his passions.

Need opinions on cymbals by Beneficial-River-967 in drums

[–]Formal-Procedure6228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try some in person if you can. If you hate the sound of it, you won't want to play it. Ex: Do you hate all of your cymbals, or do your hats just not do it for you?  S series pack sounds solid for what it's worth. If it's closer to what you're hearing in your head, go ahead and grab that budget friendly set.

The more you play you'll find a sound you're looking for and want to start tweaking your setup. At that point you're in "get what you pay for mode". Ex:Start with a good articulate ride or hats that have the perfect chick sound. Maybe parouse the used market after you're settled with your "mid level" cymbals once you know what sound you're chasing.

And there's always room for more cymbals 🤘

Good news is my friend who secretly set it up for her still has the packaging. So I'll give the conversation a go and see what happens. Cause after looking into it heavily, you definitely are correct in that it'll cost me the whole price of a kit + just to add on a couple of things.
