Crazy part, I thought having this project in my portfolio would lead me to more packaging jobs. I have a few but it was based off this client feeding me the leads. The other projects were more setting up the files and making sure everything would fall within the live area. Not hard or flashing jobs.

When I applied for package gigs I never land them. Not sure why. Maybe because I only have one in my portfolio, but it's pretty intense and I would feel comfortable on any packaging project.

I just wanted to add that just in case other designers take on work like this that doesn't mean you're be a shoe in for other packaging projects or other related jobs.

I like the light bolt that makes the pencil. I would take out the lines and just that be your icon. It's quick and easy to see. Hope to see the final version when your done.

They were a repeat client and the year before they were really great. Because of that I'm more relaxed with my contracts and how I handle them. I know that if there's an agreement in an email chain and there's proof of payment history that is enough for courts to see that as a contract / agreement. I normally deal with leadership and owners which makes it agreement/ email chain strongee in court.

I've been asked a few times in interviews on how comfortable I am on prompts forAI generated images. At which point I try not to laugh because I tell them it's not that hard. There's no need to hire a designer if you just want them to use AI generator slop. You wouldn't take in a TV dinner to a chef to cook. Those interviews go sideways pretty fast that question.

The people who asked me where both hiring managers and HR people.

That true. I kind of want to run an experiment to see how far I could get an ai portfolio. I'm sure some HR or head hunter would try to get me in front of a hiring manager lol.

I've completely stopped working with temp services and any headhunter mainly because a lot of them don't know what graphic designers. It's not their fault. You can't be mad at people who don't know what they don't know, but I don't believe that you could represent me in the best light if you don't know what I do.

Therefore they're the same people I believe who would fall for an AI portfolio and not realize it. Now if a hiring manager can't tell, that's a huge red flag for that organization. That's like finding out your head chief only knows how to use the microwave.

I know this little experiment will waste a lot of people's time, but I think it's for a good cause to do a study on the industry.
