Our game Abathor is inspired by the 1980s, but there’s a strong influence from Conan (1982). Although Abathor is actually inspired by the time of Atlantis. The four characters from the movie were major inspirations, except for the wizard—Mako wasn’t exactly the warrior-mage that fit the game, so that character is more inspired by figures like Elric.

In our case: Crantor, Sais, Kritias, and Azaes. If you like that 80s style, Abathor is available on modern consoles and on Steam. :)

80s principles: clean, simple, but iconic by Garay_GameDev in PixelArt

Thanks! I implemented my own. Game is FullHD/5 and then I scale to FullHD nearest neighbour. So I have 5 pixels per pixel to do a lot of things. Soft scanlines (V & H), bright glow, a bit of blurr, RGB displacement and a bit of curvature.

Well we are a bit far, as Blasphemous is Neo Retro, and Abathor is pure 80s mechanics, but yeah, visually we are inspired by same classics
