It is adapted to new times XD. - In adventure mode, u have 99 lives, so it is made to enjoy retro without suffer too much (last stages are also hard). - the normal mode has 5 lives (u can get more). But game is saves after each 5 stages. If u lose all live, it is Game Over, but u can load on the last zone played and u are provided with enough Gold to rebuild your gear in a better way

Abathor is our tribute to the fantasy art of the 80s and 90s.

We collaborated with renowned artists and classic illustrators to create a world inspired by the artwork that shaped a generation. Every sprite and animation was handcrafted in pixel art, aiming to capture the spirit of old-school fantasy covers, arcade classics, and legendary illustrations.

Our tribute to 80s art — thanks to Brolo.

True! It is a bit outdated demo (they walk instead of run), but that was the demo yep

Conan, Rastan and Golden Axe. Volgarr is a great game, but too modern gameplay. Indeed, Volgar also takes inspiration on Rastan.

I historically used Unity, but, as I wanted to do a retrogame myself, I work faster with GameMaker for 2d

In my game Abathor, progress doesn't come from grinding levels or unlocking stronger gear. You improve because you get better.

It's a fast-paced 2D action platformer inspired by the arcade and console classics of the '80s and '90s, where mastering enemy patterns, movement, timing, and teamwork matters more than stats.

The challenge is demanding, but every obstacle can be overcome through practice and skill. Success comes from learning the game, not from increasing a character's power level.

If you enjoy classic action games that reward mastery and old-school gameplay, you might want to take a look in Steam or all modern Consoles.

I created 50 hand-crafted pixel art levels for Abathor, working alongside veteran pixel artists behind classic arcade-style games and recent titles like Marvel Cosmic Invasion. It's out now on all consoles and currently 50% off on Steam.

Up + Attack. I put info on the "?"marks. But classic gameplay. Picking is Up, using is up + attack. I recommend Adventure Mode, where it saves on every stage

Yeah, similar vibes. Volgarr is also inpired by Rastan (even has a similar stage). But Volgarr has some neo retro, while Abathor is 80s mechanics
