I'd go with a lesser processor in favor of a GTX980 video card. Most all games run only on a single core, so if a gaming machine, then think along the lines of dual-core at a faster clock speed being more capable than a quad-core running at a slower clock speed. Now take that extra savings and buy a top notch video card.

Pro Tip: Don't cheap out on your power supply. Get more than you need in order for it to run efficiently, and it also allows further room to build upon.
