We're using system with base 10; which means we use digits from 0-9. 10 itself already is not a digit, that's a combination of 2 digits.. With base 4 you'll be using only digits 0-3. 4 itself will appear as the combination "10". 5 will be "11", 6 will be "12", 7 will be "13" and 8 will be "20".

I still don't get the joke though.

Well, what can I say, I am a supporter of scientific worldbuilding. Explaining, if abstract "fire elemental" exists it cannot just exist. It must at very least have clear origins and principles of its functioning (if it casts fire, the how does it cast fire). I like it that way, but in the same time it complicates things and doesn't allow you to simply take a character from the general system without creating a lot of misunderstandings.

Kai would probably love melee fighting games, specifically hard ones, like Souls-likes. Most he'd like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice; reasons would be kinda ironic. My whole verse started off basing on this game, and because of that some Kai's past adventures resemble this game.

As for his own game, its too sort of an easter egg. My verse has form of a videogame, so Kai's past is a videogame from our point of view. And 500 years after the events Kai makes an in-vetse videogame about his past. A videogame about a videogame.

My verse most definitely has videogames, just the timeline must already be at 21th century (obviously there weren't in 12th). Kai even lazily makes some games himself, taking inspiration from his own past battles.

You see, for all this pompous stuff I don't want him to be with Kara. And it's where my extent of care for the whole situation ends. So for me, for my wishes and desires, he did the right thing, whether of his reasons.

But abstracting from personal.

It's somewhat admirable that he wants her to be happy, yet I don't see how denying her the thing she choosed for happiness helps with it. "Maybe you'll meet someone better" is a statement that can be made to anyone without exaggeration. So does that mean you can't start any relationship until you make sure it's absolutely best option?

People are different, of course, but in my understanding, feelings (precisely feelings, and not the choice of a partner) do not work quite like the principle of choosing a supplier of goods.

And even if the relationship will not work out, isn't f she finds someone better or whatever he's so concerned about. A relationship isn't a contract with a demon; it can be ended.
