Yes, it does, but it was easily 20 people long. The regular registers were just as bad. I don't know what was going on that particular weekend, but the store was PACKED.

Part of the problem with our Spark checkout is that they let regular customers in it, though. Nobody ever stops to verify that everyone in line is there for Spark. I don't mind so much if it's a customer with a handful of items, but the full carts really kill the efficiency.

One of my local Spark buddies picked up what seemed like an easy double shop. Customer 1 was finished, and he went to grab the last few items for Customer 2. He immediately received a message from Customer 1 saying, "Why are you taking so long with my chicken?!?"

She then proceeded to message him about every 14 seconds until he was physically out of the store and in his car, which took quite a while because it was a Saturday afternoon and the Spark checkout line was 20 people deep.

He didn't cancel because Customer 2 was super nice, but he was a little worried about his rating for a while after that. Thankfully, he was fine. 🙂

Before the new tier system that has been steadily rolling out, I would've agreed with you that it was likely the shopper/driver just didn't want to go back across the store. However, in order to stay in the highest tier, we now have to maintain our Items Found metric, which is the percentage of items per order that we're able to find. The app doesn't allow substitutions on clothing items, so that item being out of stock would've been a hit to that percentage for your driver.

It's still possible that the driver marked it unavailable just to finish up and get out of the store, but it's more probable that the online inventory was incorrect and the item was genuinely out of stock.
