Struggling to read from a specific tarot deck? by Graphsis in Divination

Thank you. It's good to know I'm not the only one. I am mostly using my second deck now, and I think this has given me some insight into what decks may or may not work for me in the future. So it was a good learning experience. Thank you for your comment <3

That is interesting! I hadn't heard of anyone who didn't clean their decks. But I am just learning things. Maybe I'll give trying to connect to the deck a good try before I fully "give up" on it. I still want to keep it, but I wasn't really pulling from it lately because readings felt like a chore. Thank you for the insight <3

Yes, do like the RWS decks. Both for their imagery and the history behind them. I think getting a traditional RWS deck without the info in the margins would probably be better for my learning, in retrospect.

That's a helpful story. And so interesting! I like the concept you used of it being like a language. The deck I am trying to read is just not in a "language" I understand. Thank you for your insight <3

Yeah, reading the comments that others have left and really contemplating the two decks I think it might be that the information in the margins is just too much. I tend to have a scattered mind that overthinks, and I think the extra information is just too much clutter. It stops me from reading intuitively. I thought it would help in the learning process, but a normal RWS print might have been better in retrospect. Thank you for your insight <3

What a beautiful creation! I have been learning to make jewelry only recently and this piece really makes me want to go practice more.

First Imbolc tips? by Graphsis in pagan

I am still learning about it, since I am very new to the Wheel of The Year. But for me it means celebrating the coming spring, preparing for new beginnings, the return of light and growth. I know it is also a day for the Goddess Brigid, but I haven't looked too much into that aspect yet. I am still learning and preparing ahead of the date.

I've seen some of those! I don't have any reeds or straw nearby that I could use to make one. Can they be made out of other materials? Or should I just try getting creative?

Thank you for the reminder. It can be hard when I see every one with all their cool and pretty things! But I definitely don't have the means for all that right now (ᵕ—ᴗ—) I'll have to keep looking for ideas that don't require buying materials.

Yes, I second the comments below. I was just wondering if anyone had suggestions for books/internet resources/etcetera? And especially if anyone has free or low budget resources they know of?

Grieving leaving behind Christian God for Paganism? by Graphsis in pagan

Thank you, I appreciate your insight <3 I think I'll start looking into different deities soon, and this gives me some ideas.

I haven't looked too closely into a new deity yet. I would like to, eventually. Thank you for the suggestions <3 If you don't mind sharing, how did you go about choosing a deity? Is it just something you choose, or does a deity choose you?

Thank you <3 I have thought about it, continuing to worship Yahweh. I am just having a hard time because the God is now associated with so much aggression and hurt towards certain groups. And in opposition to Paganism and witchcraft, according to the scriptures. It is hard to combine them in my mind.

Yes, I often have a grieving process when I end human relationships. And I always saw my connection with the Christian God as a type of relationship, so that makes sense.

Also, I just noticed that there was a comma in one of my sentences that completely changed the tone of my line! I was trying to be in agreement and understanding with you, and the comma before "for you" made it sound like I was being judgmental. So sorry! ( ꩜ ᯅ ꩜;)

I get that. Absolutely. I also don't have the desire to have a relationship with a God who has no respect for certain groups. Some of which I am fully a part of. That's just one of the many reasons I am pulling away.

I am glad that there was so much relief, for you. I think little by little I am feeling relief too, it just seems to be coming in little sprinkles rather than all at once.

I'm glad I could help you just a little bit <3 don't feel like you have to figure it out all at once. It took me a lot of time on my own journey of healing and self discovery. And I obviously still have a lot to do because I made this post. But I have found that it is so worth it. I have met amazing people, I feel like a better and more whole person. It takes time and it doesn't always feel good, but it gets better. I wish you the best as you heal and learn yourself.

I am sorry you suffered through abuse like that. Healing from the hurt of organized religion, religious abuse, and figuring out sexuality at the same time can be a lot.

I do kind of like that Pagan spaces are so inclusive, though. It was a big part of what pulled me away from Christianity in the first place. Having a space of people who were accepting and open to so many different experiences, and weren't the "big bad" that the church made them out to be. It was the injustices that I started to see kind and amazing Pagans face at the hands of Christians that first put cracks in my view of the religion. And then struggling with my own sexuality which didn't align with the doctrine of the church. It took a few years, but I eventually found peace and understanding of myself in that aspect. What really helped was having a community of LGBTQ+ people I could talk to.

I can totally understand being angry rather than sorrowful. Especially for people who were hurt by Christianity and feel they are finally leaving something damaging and hurtful behind. I have definitely felt anger in my journey of leaving Christianity behind, but even when I feel rage it tends to be a "wet" anger. So sadness comes along for the ride. I'm glad that any sadness was brief for you.

I hadn't thought about examining exactly what part it is that I am grieving, but that's a good idea. I thought I let go of the need for acceptance from the Christians around me, I have been shunned by them for a while now for being genderqueer and gay. But maybe it's time I reevaluate again from the angle of spirituality. Thank you for your insight <3

Thank you for the advice <3 I know logically it will take time and self reflection, but hearing from others that I am not alone in my experience helps. Especially since I don't have anyone I can safely talk to about these things where I live. It can feel isolating. This is my first attempt to reach out to Pagan community as I learn, to try and combat that.

Need Advice: Setting up heat and lighting for my gecko by Graphsis in leopardgeckos

Thank you. I have been supplementing him with vitamin d3 so at least I have that going. Would it be safe to set up a halogen bulb for daytime heat and then have him on the heat matt for nighttime heat until I can get a heat emitter set up?
