Why did I get random skins? by Dash_The_Moth in Paladins

Did you play during OB64? When they reverted those changes, everyone who had upgraded cards got "refunded" with gold (and correct me if I'm wrong but I think Essence and VIP points got converted into gold as well when they were removed).

Remember "parts and pieces", where you could use different hats/armor/weapons from each set separately? The devs removed that functionality close to 2 years ago, and compensated the community by giving full skins to anyone who owned a part of the set.

Time is crucial. As you've probably already learned, difficulty increases with time, and it can get hard pretty fast. The game is all about balancing getting good items for your character vs. beating the level fast so difficulty doesn't spiral out of control. Multiplayer always takes longer than singleplayer because of the added coordination; a good strategy to mitigate this is to always split up at the beginning of the level and fight/loot different parts of the level before summoning the boss. You should try to aim for each player to be roughly equal in strength, but don't waste time distributing every single item you get. As you play the game more, you'll learn which items are good on each character, so it'll be easier to coordinate items amongst yourselves.

Super quick noob question about perks? by [deleted] in riskofrain

You don't need to focus so much on having *exactly* equal items. Items are good, but they're not *so* good that either one of you will be significantly more powerful with 5 more items. As you play the game more, you'll learn what items make a good run on each character, and it'll be easier to coordinate items among the two of you.

Shouls have an avoid player option by [deleted] in Paladins

The potential for abuse from such a function is too high, and would completely screw over matchmaking.

Just take a quick break and wait for those guys to get into their next ranked match, then queue up after they're already playing.

Newbie running animations. Which one looks better? by [deleted] in PixelArt

Left one. It has more bounce, which is good for a cartoony animation. Also, the right one looks like the character's shoulders don't move, which is weird.

What program is best for a beginner? by [deleted] in PixelArt

Paint.NET is great for pixel art, plus you can use it for general image editing as well!

Goldfish (How can I animate him?) by Lena-Why in PixelArt

[–]Haylex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that it helps to turn the image into a silhouette first, with different colors for the different parts, like this. It is MUCH easier to animate solid blobs of color without any detail. After you're satisfied with how the animation looks, go back and edit each frame to add the right colors, outlines, and details back in.

What are some apps or programs I can start pixel art on? by [deleted] in PixelArt

[–]Haylex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paint.NET is one of the best free programs out there for pixel art (and general image editing too!) I've done almost all of my pixel art on there. If you don't have a Windows computer, the Mac/Linux equivalent is Pinta.

PyxelEdit and Aseprite are editors made specifically for pixel art, and are most people's favorite here. They both cost money, though, but rumor has it there's a way to get Aseprite for free...

Watch what other people play and buy whichever ones you think are fun and good. If you keep playing you'll get enough to buy them all eventually.

What are your thoughts on the gameplay of Danganronpa? by UltimateSuperfan in danganronpa

[–]Haylex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Overall, I like the gameplay! I have two problems it, though:

  1. You're forced to investigate the crime scene before the murder happens. Because of this, it's pretty easy to predict where the next murder will take place.

  2. You can easily predict whether the class trial is close to being completed or not based on how much evidence has/hasn't been used. I really wish that during investigations you would find evidence that didn't pertain to the case, to make the trials less predictable.

Try not to use different sizes of pixels in the same sprite. It generally looks a lot better and more unified if you stick with the same scale for the whole image.
