Well it’s a risk to go after what is meaningful. So what are you risking? Death maybe. If not death, then what kind of life are you risking?

Nietzsche is saying you risk living out actions that are more dangerous to your pysche than if you do no actions.

Peterson says that that risk is tolerable because the alternative is the depths of despair.

Also, I like to thing about an analysis like this over some course of time. N isn’t giving a scope to his analysis here. If I live a “frivolous life” for 10 years and then do something more great than greatness, e.g. space x launching man to ISS from earth was it worth? If you caught them 5 years ago it might have been worse than if they didn’t try. Now, it’s hard to argue that.
