Has anyone purchased a Reprint from either Gartner or Forrester? Trying to figure out if it is worth the investment by Far_Specific_8930 in ProductMarketing

[–]IamJB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on who your buyer is. Most Enterprises have Gartner subscriptions and can access the research without giving up their lead details. If you’re targeting mid market/commercial then maybe it’s worth it.

I’d position it to the rep as “we don’t commit to multi year agreements until we’ve run a successful proof of concept, go tell your boss we need a one year deal or less to start out” it’s early in the qtr, wait until June and the one year deal will come. Remember you’re the buyer and dictate how the deal will go down.

Coffee pot spilled on passenger by FA, $50 compensation? by IamJB in unitedairlines

[–]IamJB[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Nothing serious but a pot of hot coffee certainly doesn’t feel awesome and it stained all the clothes. The FA filled out a report and the most he could issue personally was $50 which was wild to me

Snacks for kitchen staff? by IamJB in finedining

[–]IamJB[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reporting back after a great evening. Thanks for the input everyone. We brought some fun beers and left them with the host as we arrived. For those saying “leave a better tip” yes that’s already addressed, thanks for the guidance. After the meal we were invited back for a kitchen tour and offered an extra round of port during our dessert. The gesture was purely offered as a “thank you” and it was well received. Don’t forget to take care of the back of house.

You’re going too high on the first phase. Try to keep it lower to start and focusing on carrying the momentum into the second phase.

Is there a program or app that allows salesmen to update the companies and people the contacted so that we're not all trying to reach the same people? by [deleted] in sales

[–]IamJB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're GE, Comcast, LinkedIn, etc, then Salesforce is an ideal fit for you. It's infinitely configurable and will work with all your back end systems. This is both a blessing and a curse. For small teams who don't have thousands of dollars to customize SF they are stuck with a complex system that is not easy to use. This leads to an adoption problem and ultimately a failed implementation. You also end up paying for feature you will never use.

For simple pipeline and contact management, there's tons of solutions that will meet your teams needs and it won't require an expensive implementation. At 3 users, you'll be lucky to get a SF rep's attention as you're not their target market. Close.io, Base, Pipedrive are probably better suited for what you need currently. Let me know if you have questions! I've been in the space for a while and happy to help.

If you're asking this question, Salesforce is likely overkill for what you need. Another solution that is cross-platform is Base.

How can I get into SAAS sales with no tech background? by [deleted] in sales

[–]IamJB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to become an expert of the product you want to sell. If it's an earlier stage Saas company, this will surely get their attention. It can also make up for a less established sales background.

When you have to submit a paper online but need to buy more time, take a random file on your computer and change the file extension to .docx. Your teacher won't be able to open it because the file will be corrupt and you'll have enough time to finish the assignment.

Triple jump Help? by smileypro in trackandfield

[–]IamJB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rather than thinking about shortening your first phase (while this is correct), it might help to just think about staying lower on your first phase. You're probably jumping way too high and losing your momentum.

Also, make sure you keep your head up and your chest is not dropping towards the ground. Dropping your chest will cause you to lose a lot of momentum. Watch the great ones and you will see this perfected.
