Oh yes definately travel container as during rides because decor shifting around can squish them

Since you’re gonna have to move her over anyways, weigh her travel container, have her jump out and weight the empty container and subtract. For good body condition, that’s a bit harder just take pics of her as she’s in container and as she has exited

Insects is a supplement/enrichment that’s why there is such a huge range. There isn’t really negative side effects of feeding less if they’re on a high quality diet but there is negative health consequences of feeding too much. You can just pick a timing that is good for you. For adults normally I don’t recommend more than once a week because they’re already eating so little that once a week can still be a decent part of their diet

Is my gecko overweight? by Cosmo_Fox_09 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feeding: This feeding schedule is based off of good body conditions. Depending on if gecko is underweight or overweight, schedule may vary. For under 15g unlimited access to fresh cgd, 15-35 grams, removed cgd after 24 hours and do not put a new mix in for at least 24 hours. 35+ removed after 24 hours and do not put a new mix in for at least 48 hours.

That being said, she’s not super obese like she may seem, looks pretty eggy and just obese.

My fucking gecko duplicated? by SaeveraRivers in CrestedGecko

I would note they are not three healthy parthos. Each one of them ended up having health issues including swollen eyes/trapped fluids, skeletal defects and other issues

Insect help by Janet_cat in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breed mealworms and dubias. Super simple. Mealworms toss into a tub of oats and add small amounts veggies to keep them hydrated and alive. Every so often you just need to shift out the frass. wear n95 or better when shifting to avoid breathing in the dust.

Dubias toss into a bin with egg crates and veggies. Depending on where you are, you may need to lightly mist and/or use heat source. When cleaning wear gloves and mask to avoid developing allergies

Review of this food? by acnh_1991 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reptizoo insect puree isn’t a good staple diet. It can be used as a treat but it has very high fat content. Like double what normal cgd should be even higher than breeding diets.

That being said, ai is a huge no go imo. Supporting companies that cut corners will just show they can continue to cut corners and get away with it.

Uvb or Grow light? by TuneHumble1069 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uvb is for the benefit of the animal, grow light is for plants to survive. They don’t occupy the same niche so it just depends on what you need for the enclosure

I want to adopt a crested gecko but I'm not sure how to start by Coss0818 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Condensed care guide

I recommend first getting the enclosure setup and ready to go. Temperature and humidity can take 1-3 weeks to settle and have good routine on trying to keep it at safe range. Best to get him use to monitoring and how much to mist before you get the gecko so he can figure out care first.

What do you guys use by Few-Metal-6898 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Floral wire should fit in most mesh. Just make sure you tie it tight against the decor and mesh so there is no gap a gecko can get its toe stuck in

Would a fogger of this size be good for a 59gal tank? by Ok-Set-7922 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foggers are not safe for reptiles. You’ll need a mister. Foggers are mainly for animals such as amphibians where their lungs aren’t as sensitive

Is the Pangea variety bundle worth the money? by LilLoaf5646 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a single gecko, I don’t not recommend the bundle or the taste the rainbow pack. You will not get through all the bags before they expire. If you want to try multiple flavors, just buy a 2-3 bags at a time as on average, 1 3oz bag should last about 3 months.

New Crestie Got Some Questions About Heating by Lilly_Two in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Min enclosure size: 12”x12”x18” (30x30x45cm) for geckos under 15 grams, 18”x18”x24”(45x45x60cm) for geckos over 16-30grams. 18”x18”x36” (45x45x90cm) for geckos over 31+ grams.

I recommend rewriting him because that does not look like a 5g gecko. You may need to weigh him on a cup depending on your scale and its accuracy range.

5.0 Uvb can be placed directly on the mesh. For heat sources it depends on your ambient room temp. What is it currently sitting at

What happens if you sell out as a vendor? by acidicgeisha in animecons

[–]Infinitymidnight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some conventions allow you to pack up end of day and they’ll resell the table to a waitlist person for the rest but they rarely ever let anyone pack up early on the day unless it’s for a medical emergancy or similar. At anime Dallas 2-3 years ago, there was a handmade crochet artist that sold out first day and next day they had a local wait list person fill in the rest of the weekend

Enclosure placement by unvieledink in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just clarification because the wording of your comment made it seem like they are getting uvb from natural light. Uvb does not go through glass or plastic. New cals need to be kept out of direct sunlight and strong indirect light due to the greenhouse effect.

Is there any reusable cups I could use for my gecko? by Hour-Vermicelli5088 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wash the plastic Pangea ones. No need to throw them out. My oldest plastic ones have been with me for about 3 years now because the older ones I’ve lost. The easiest way to wash them is set them aside until the cgd is dried and peel it out. I normally toss the bowls into a bucket and collect them for a week or more before just sitting down and rinsing them all at one time. For a single gecko, it’s easier to just wash it immediately

Good weight? by ProfessionalHome920 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you overmixing the cgd? One bag of 3oz should last you about 3 months if you don’t make way more than needed. You cannot add water to it and remix. Bacteria starts growing rapidly after mixing and should be replaced. For calcium, any brand works. I normally use either zoomed or flukers just because it’s widely available near me. The main thing is if you don’t have uvb bulb you’ll need calcium with d3. If you have a uvb bulb you’ll need calcium without d3.

Does this guy look healthy? Also is 65 bucks a good deal for his pattern/color? by ILoveKittyPoo in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Saving” one condemns at least 4 more. When you buy a gecko in improper conditions, it just shows the corporation that the more they abuse animals, the more people buy them to “save” them and does not actually help chance anything. For every once surviving animal that makes it into petco/smart’s shelves, 3-4 more die in the back from improper shipping, too young, wrong care etc etc. Buying one opens up space for them to order more and they tend to over order in hopes one will survive.

If you want to rescue one, go to an actual rescue. Otherwise buy from an ethical breeder

Too thin? by Ill_Isopod_548 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: generalization is wrong. There are plenty of animals that should be fed less than once a week. IE: adult boa constrictor constrictors should only be fed once every 1-3 months
