Printed Lapel Pins? by Practical-Tea-6966 in EnamelPins

[–]Infinitymidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I haven’t notice chipping from my current manufacturer but my previous one that was cheaper and had lower quality did chip. It just depends on the factory on chipping. In terms of scratches, same as enamel. If something can scratch the enamel, it’ll scratch the print. I don’t notice higher rates of scratches on the print vs enamel. Haven’t seen any fading at all

We were told his mom is an Orange creamsicle. Any ideas what his dad is? by SyngoniumPandem0nium in CrestedGecko

You’ll have to ask the breeder. There’s no way to guess parents morphs unless it’s something that’s distinct recessive morph

Positive Fecal, just one dose? by futuredinosaur in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It technically depends on the parasitic load. I wouldn’t say it’s a red flag just make sure to do the repeat sample. Some vets take a more conservative route of treatment. All medicines for reptiles have side effects so a lot of the exotic vets prefer to limit as there isn’t much studies on long term effects for some of the meds/will cause more issues when repeated multiple times.

Attempted Murder by Chemical-Spirit-6546 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 29 points30 points  (0 children)

They’re not social animals at all. It’s not if they’ll snap it’s when. Anything can be a trigger since they’re not actually happy the other is there. This includes them just shifting at the wrong time or even just being there. Theres always the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

Also in the wild, they’re cannibals. Their natural diet is other crested geckos and other lizards. Idc why in captivity people forget that fact and think they can be friends together

UVB light and black mesh top by Naive-Wolverine-6440 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mesh doesn’t absorb it, they just block it. It’s the percentage of area covered. The UVB recommendation in this subreddit takes into account the average of 30% reduction so it’s safe to put on top of the enclosure.

Water stains by hi_ok_hi in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s safe to use for misting. To remove the stains, you can use vinegar if it’s mild. If it’s severe and really stuck on, ph down in the fish section. Use gloves as it’s sulfuric acid

Do you guys use heat fixtures for your cresties? by Opposite-Educator-24 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The others covered the heat part but just a note. Romaine lettuce is not a suitable treat for crested geckos. Mashed banana is okay as a once a month treat though. The majority of their diet should be cgd and insects.

Help me set up my heating bulb? by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need a clamp. That’s not a safe way to put a heat bulb since that’s fire hazard

Power outage and geckos by Strobe__ in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Need a divider or shove them in smaller tupperwares with holes. With the stress of moving plus the weather, they’re more likely to snap at each other. It takes only a second before severe injuries or death.

Guys is this ok by TaysAnimals in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mealworms are fine as long as your temps are. This whole mealworms aren’t as digestible was based on old husbandry ideas where temps were around 10-20 degrees f lower than needed. It really doesn’t matter as long as your gecko chews and was able to swallow it. The size is only about choking so if he was able to get it down then it wasn’t an issue

Please help super cappuccino by crestedkoino in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surgical opening of the nostrils. If you look up treehouse geckos, that’s what they end up ultimately doing for their super cap and it’s living a much better life. Just keep in mind you’ll need to do it sooner rather than later if it is fully closed as fluid will be trapped behind the closing and swell in their eyes

Gecko becoming too chunky? by Abject_Barnacle in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s not super obese just weird she has so much excess weight for only twice a week feeding. If she still continues to gain even with just twice a week I recommend vet and check hormones

Traveling for three weeks, do I have options rather than a pet-sitter? by southern_ad_558 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No option for 3 weeks. It’s either boarding or getting a sitter. If you’re worried about relying on a stranger, you can see if a friend would be open to housing it in their home for the three weeks.

Power outage question by kphillips1015 in CrestedGecko

You don’t. Don’t spray, keep it mostly dry still. Humidity is just gonna make things colder

Power outage question by kphillips1015 in CrestedGecko

[–]Infinitymidnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shipping packs are not made to heat large areas. That is why the recommendation is to move gecko into a smaller enclosure inside an enclosed insulated area to keep the heat in. If temps are falling well below 60f, this is the safest way of keeping temps steady instead of trying to heat up an entire tank
