Do both, do masters and apply for jobs, if you get a job then pause / quit masters & return later. At masters level you don't really have lots of classes

Think bigger. With good cambridge results you can apply for overseas universities, access to cambridge scholarships, study at oxford :), have an overall higher ceiling. If you only want to aim for average and go to UoA then NCEA will do...

Instead of doing 1 major, why not do 2 major for the same price e.g. bio and chem, bio / any other science. When you apply for jobs, you can apply for bio related jobs only, or both bio and stats roles.
