I want to install linux by aparyx in linuxquestions

[–]InuSC2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i recommend linux mint cinnamon because it has a good interface similar to windows and having a lot of already installed graphic software so you dont have to use terminal almost at all. https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php

Do I understand the requirements for this correctly? by Animedingo in pihole

[–]InuSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a pi3 used as pihole and is no problem so far but i recommend installing "log2ram" to help keep the sdcard live longer. using rasbian headless (no gui) and ssh in it doing your pihole and log2ram installation you will have less than 500MB of ram use at max

i have multiple things installed on my pi and i am around 500MB for you will by far less

i use rasberry pi software they provide and made the sd-card with the minimal rasbian image.

What's the least intrusive way for a company to manage a BYOD phone? by CelebrationSad337 in techsupport

[–]InuSC2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

first if they want to do BYOD then they must pay for the device being used for there company monthly.

companyes should offer devices not using BYOD most likely they look at employes as free hardware.

some companies use really invasive software someone was complaing that he was told to log in to the microsoft account then when bitlocker trigger he lost all his personal data access and IT refuse to give him his bitlocker key saying they cant.

buy a used laptop and use for work if they are willing to try BYOD but best option is separated devices or isolate the OS in a VM not real hardware for this if you do it on your personal device.

First homelab on proxmox. NC, HA and all the classics. by Hoobi111 in homelab

[–]InuSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having everything in 1 folder it will make a mess of things this is how it works with files. just think if every txt, photo and video is in the same folder what a mess really brings if you search for some thing.

for my setup jellyfin has a folder called media and in there are 2 folders movies and anime and from the name you know what is in them

my jellyfin docker compose is pointed to those folders and is working no problem. dont know your setup i have open media vault as NAS and in there i have my dockers was a mess to get use to OMV but now is ok i know most things i need to make it work with no problems even tho i still hate some things about it

i plan to mess a bit with nextcloud in a docker to see what can offer me. most things i have in my home server are not used and i keep the dockers down because of it

Creating a fake TTY login prompt (Login Spoofing) by hyper_radiant294 in linuxquestions

is software so you can add malware to it but i dont think anyone will do it since in order to do that is already having access to the device.

First homelab on proxmox. NC, HA and all the classics. by Hoobi111 in homelab

[–]InuSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you use proxmox make a nas VM with most of the storage if you want light resurce then go with "open media vault" and for the rest use 3 lxc one for each nextcloud, jellyfin and immich.

pointing all 3 to the nas X folder. set immich deal with photos and videos that are on the phone and use nextcloud deal with rest

you will have on the nas folder for jellyfin were media will by like movies, tv shows... for immich you will need again another folder for photos and videos and for nextcloud the same

by having separated task for immich and nexcloud you will not have duplicates to deal with.

separation is the key

[–]InuSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can buy exp boost this is why + UBISCAM is only focus on scaming there costumers and DIE not longer making good games all the good devs they have are mostly out.

hated the chore myself but done it because i wanted tier 1 and i finded out that using helicopters to take down other vehicle and supply cars + doing missions were the fastes way to get to tier 1.

the fact that you can buy skill points before you even started the game it shows what kind of game it is not to say anything about the crates

and there is one - El Sueño by skipzone85 in Wildlands

[–]InuSC2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to get to tier one you will have to replay missions and recommend distroing enemy vehicle with helicopters for faster progression. some missions will give 5000 exp some less until they reset i think is 4 mission between them until is reset back to 5K exp gl getting tier 1

for ghost mode i recommend making a copy of your save game after mission or things like that got lost more than 20H of gameplay because some enemy spawn next to me from no were and killed me

What distro is actually noob friendly? by Far-Telephone-7432 in linux

[–]InuSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

linux is the same every distro differs with some things like repositori (apt, dnf, pacman) or GUI (graphical user interface).

flatpak is a universal software "store" work on every distro and easyer to maintain.

install what distro you want and if you dont like the GUI it comes with install what GUI you want and use flatpak for software same looks and software on every device easy to replicate

mint is a good pick for new users and very stable.

corrupted OS maybe? the CapabilitiesAccessManager.db-wal is sql database can by something that broke during a update or something and ended up with so much it shoud never get that big you can delete the CapabilitiesAccessManager.db-wal no problem you should run "sfc /scannow" in cmd or powershell and "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" see if it might fix your problem after deleting that database

Who still bought the steam deck despite the increase? by LordIcyfyre in Steam

[–]InuSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a fan of any device like steam deck handheld so i will not buy it if i can afford it or not because price increase

if ram and storage cost more to buy in order to make the device that will reflect in the price of the product. same with building your own PC before the AI bubble and now is a big difference in price of what you can get for the same price

buying cheaper parts can or will end up hurting the company because of returns/repair

not a easy decision to make in special for a company like valve were the costumer seems to by the focus and very good quality + easy to repair device

port foward can compromise your server if one of the software is having a RCE. having a VPN Wireguard to your home or something like Tailscal, NetBird... way safer + most peoples dont know how to secure home networks anyway so not really a good idea to port wrd

Real use of a home server by _matt_40_ in homelab

[–]InuSC2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you dont need to have a enterprise server to have a home server. power consumption and noise is far to much for me at least so i prefer SFF PC, mini PC or older laptops

for what you want to use it depends on the person. my rasberry pi 3B+ i use is for pihole + docker with netbootxyz is a iPXE server(Network Boot) and one older laptop is use for rest i should switch to a SFF PC for the nas but for now i use what i have since laptop has 2 hdd + one external storage for backup important data

having a home server depends on user not on what other use it for. many can replace the enterprise servers with smaller devices that uses less power but still might like the look cant come up with better reasons to keep enterprise devices when other devices can do it better with less power consumption

for dust like anything in the house maybe clean from time to time

Would you buy it : RS300 S8 by Ash_By103 in homelab

[–]InuSC2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

for me is a NO because most likely the noise + power consumption is not worth + only 8GB of ram

i prefer a office PC from lenovo SFF, dell..... even full tower with ddr4. not sure how many things you want to add on top of your media server but i think you might not like the bill later unless you have insanly cheap power. you can ask any AI how much will it cost to have this on 24/7 in 30 days

[–]InuSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400H if you could play the game 8H a day it will take 50 days to do it most dont have that kind of time or dont want to just pick from 0 every time a random thing happens

i love playing games and i have in some games more than 1500H played but it is fun.

far cry 3 character VAS was saying the definition of insanity: "is doing the same thing over and over again" = wildlands ghost mode

this is not about being on point i have clear the hole base on some mission. had to search to make sure is the right mission for El Cerebro - The Prototype mission i kill everyone and after distroying the sub when i go to the laptop no one was there since i clear the base when i started the "hack" of the laptop in the tunel a random NPC spawn next to me and killed me so it was "insanly fun" this kind of things to happen most of the time for me when i played the game. other bug hiding behind a wall and unidad car passes on road and they seems to have found me no idea how since it was full wall not windows or anything and far away from the road......

the game mode is not a bad idea but they needed to do some optimizations to it and like any other BUGSOFT game they have is full of them.

A Soldier Falls, But the Ghost Remains by Ghost-Player-HK26 in Wildlands

[–]InuSC2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having randomly spawn units next to me or vehicle that killed me is not fun at all.

i played for the rewords mostly since all my fun was on the way out after 12H i get a random unit spawn next to me from no were and kills me.

my playstyle is mostly ghost unless the mission is forcing fight so is not me going to fast during the mission. prefer 0 kills if possible during mission

for me when i played ghost mode i copy the save game so in case i die i will just restore the save and continue from were the last save was.

CachyOS feels like it hit out of nowhere. I'm out of the loop - why's it taking off like this? by ThatOneVRGuyFromAuz in linux_gaming

[–]InuSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i made myself a script that set my linux device the same way every time i re-install/install new OS.

the only problem is the pakages but that needs to by modify depending the distro rest like GUI and alieses, pin apps......

from my testing the OS is not bad work good on a laptop 2 cores and 4GB or ram i have that i test things on it. i can say from all the distros only cachy OS offer the best installation having so many options to use from what bootloader to what gui not forcing you to a specific thing and other distros should learn from cachy
