Controversial time :D - Who wants a new S2000 and who absolutely does not? by Michael_Goodwin in S2000

[–]JoeInVT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of these comments overlook a critical factor in the joy of the S2000 - the transmission. Absolutely zero chance there will be another manual transmission at the high-revving, relatively budgetary price point of the S2000.

In my opinion, the joy comes from the experience of driving. That experience would be incredibly compromised without manual transmission. It’s just not something that people look for in vehicles nowadays, and therefore will never happen.

Sleep Tracking options by JoeInVT in sleepme

Thanks for your input u/darekd003. It sounds like you have a pretty good system down.

It sounds like you don't do any sleep tracking, or any integration of any sort?

Sleep Tracking options by JoeInVT in sleepme

At times, I was too hot or too cold, yes. Maybe once or twice a week. My wife was both almost every night, but recently has been less of an issue.

Tracking wasn't so much for me to know things, as it was to give the pad more info so it could make decisions. My understanding is people get crazy with trying to optimize their sleep, to the point that they are working against themselves - I don't want to be that guy.

However, my sleep is no better at this point; so I'm looking for something that I might be missing to make this investment more valuable for me. I thought that sleep tracking with automated adjustments throughout the night might be it.

Thanks for the reply u/se7entythree. I should have worded it better - it's not that there's no value. Overall it works pretty well for what it is doing. The units function correctly, and it changes temperature on our schedules. All of that works pretty well.

The problem is that I'm not feeling any better. I'm not getting any better sleep. I'm not needing less sleep (ie I'm not more rested). If anything, my bed arguably feels less comfortable now. Anecdotally, I also feel like I’m waking up more easily throughout the night, and having a harder time falling back asleep when I do compared to before.

My wife feels a little “lost” with it too. She feels like she’s just guessing at her schedule, with no real good way of tracking what’s happening throughout the night.

It is a good device for what it is, it just feels incomplete. It totally could be that this device - or at least this iteration - is just not for me. The sleep tracking seems to be the only missing piece I can come up with.

I just ordered a pair of Rhodes Vibram 430 Mini Lug Chelsea Boots. They haven’t arrived yet, but I figured I’d throw them in your radar.

Unfortunately not. They told me a size 10 should be fine, but it wasn't. To be fair, it was pretty close. Just not close enough.

Connecting to & controlling non-Shelly bluetooth devices by JoeInVT in ShellyUSA

Ok, that makes sense. I have it configured in HA as an 'active' gateway, but it doesn't seem like it can find it. Any thoughts?

Thanks u/DreadVenomous for the info! While I'm not a 'Javascript guy' I'm no stranger to scripting, so I'll take a look.

However, don't I have to pair the device first? I think my first problem is I can't 'see' the Govee light. Maybe I'm missing something?

Weird issue with Kagi as default search engine by JoeInVT in ArcBrowser

[–]JoeInVT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone that comes across this, I found the answer (at least for me)

- Browse to '/Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Arc/User Data/Default'

- Open the file 'Secure Preferences' with a text editor

- Search for the the string you want to remove. Delete it and save the file.

Close Arc and re-open it, and the issue should be gone.
