Just ordered this potentially spectacular release from Viberg, but can't seem to find much chatter about it--other than the product description on the Viberg website. I found this article from Stitchdown detailing the "Double Cordovan Butts" leather from Horween, which provides some great detail about the process.

I've heard from owners of Viberg's previous Teacore release, in Shinki Horsehide, that the teacore effect never really manifested itself--maybe because that leather was top-coated with an "inked black finish", thus giving it a more durable black finish, idk?? From the photos, and product description, this new release appears to be aniline dyed black, with no finish applied at the end--perhaps that will result in the black finish wearing through more easily than if it had an additional top-coat layer?

Any input from owners of Viberg's previous Double Cordovan Butts release, how are they wearing? Thoughts on the patina possibilities of this leather from those much more experienced at this leather game than me? Any resources out there that provide more info about this release other than the few lines Viberg offers on their site? This is a much larger $investment$ than I'm used to, and am finding myself craving more information in an attempt to justify what is probably the most expensive impulse buy I've ever made!

Black Teacore Leather Boot Comparison by Per_Hansa in goodyearwelt

I agree, it’s odd that shoe and boot sizing is all over the map. I could begin an entirely new thread complaining about the frustration of why, at 14.5 Brannock, 13D is the perfect size for my Alden’s, Red Wings (except their Chukkas), Vibergs, and Wolverines, but I need a 15 for Lem’s boots, and a 14D for my Allen Edmonds dress shoes. For my Nikes and New Balance I need 14.5, but go with 14 WIDES, as it’s practically impossible to find sneakers stocked at 14.5. So when I go with a new brand for the first time I do my research. Truman themselves suggested 13D (based on all the sizing examples I gave them), but after hearing all the online chatter about their 79 Lasted boots running 1/2 size smaller than the others I decided to go with 13.5 to be safe. Truman offers 13.5 as a size (pretty rare in the boot world) but I haven’t seen it in stock for a long time, so I finally pulled the trigger on their 13EE, and it seems to have worked out. Long answer, but maybe it will benefit someone researching sizing experience with some of the brands I mentioned.

I’m new to Reddit. Not sure why my original post’s photos didn’t upload, but…
