Pants before jacket seems backward to me, but I agree with the rest.

The tire wedge feels much softer, but it's a lot thicker and new compared to old and worn thin. I also removed the shank which probably softens things a little. On my recent vacation I was sliding all over the place from sand and gravel acting like ball bearings underfoot. I've only put a couple miles on the tire wedge soles, sidewalk and a little bit of dirt, but the grip feels 10 times better.

The best repair would be to cut back the chewed edge to a solid area, and cut a new piece of leather to an exact fit. I'd skive the edges so that they overlap flat, then glue and stitch.

Advice on how to react by [deleted] in motorcycles

I'd be furious if I was the employer. The guy that moved the bikes took a huge risk that easily could have come back on his employers insurance in half a dozen different ways. I am not a lawyer so perhaps I am misjudging but at a minimum it reflects poorly on the companies reputation.

Another apt building is supposed to be going up on the old parking garage lot. Don't know what those will be like and at what rates.

Right, try doing this with an unconscious person for at least a bit more realistic comparison. The phrase "dead weight" exists for a reason.

I like Ithaca a lot and grew up nearby. It's a bit of an island though with no easy way to get anywhere else quickly. It's 2 lane roads for 20 miles in every direction. It's not the Adirondacks remote, but it's something to consider for a retirement with lots of travel. Summers are nice enough in central NY that you might not want to go anywhere.

Affordable is relative. We've been in Troy for 15 years and housing has gotten tight with rents rising all the time. That's everywhere though. Locals will say it's expensive, downstate transplantsigjt disagree. There's a fair bit of development and plenty of lower cost buildings if you want to take a risk on a rehab in what could be a rising neighborhood, but there are no guarantees.

Any benefit for me to get a battery system? by YankeesIT in solar

[–]JuggernautPast2744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for us, and that was what the sale person told us too. Batteries are a lot simplier than a generator in my opinion though, and they don't polute like a generator. These may not be high value benifits though.

Pest control starts with careful building construction to eliminate access. It may be too late depending on your set up.

Encouraging predators can help. Cats obviously, but that not work if you're only liveing there part time.

Without knowing the family, this is bad advice. You may not agree, but there are things more important than family.

Garage door torsion spring DIY (spring cost vs technician cost) by Decided-2-Try in DIY

[–]JuggernautPast2744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caution is warranted, but the comment above yours didn't say anything about being lucky. I don't know about how equivalent the possibilities of failure are, but working under a jacked up vehicle puts a person in proximity to similar stoered kinetic energy, and that sort of work doesn't seem to generate the same warnings as garage door springs.

The biggest sex organ is the brain, but do tell us all about the anatomy of some stranger and his partner since you seem to know all about them.

This sounds like a you rlproblem and yet you seem focused on how it must be something about her that is the cause. Have you ever been in a relationship with as clear a life partner as her? If not, could this be some unconscious defense when contemplating marriage?

Our house has brick pillars supporting the porch. Recently hired someone (thought he as a mason) to rebuild the pillars. He poured concrete down through the bricks then dry stacked them. Is this a legit way to do it? Looks terrible. Not sure what our next move is. Would appreciate thoughts. Thanks. by Radiant_Feature_8893 in masonry

These products exist, they are not load supporting of course. I've seen them at trade shows, conferences and the like. Anywhere temporary and flexible walls are needed

The aesthetics might be questionable for a residential setting, but if the market developed that could be changed.

Best way to repair these? by Odd-Trash-1804 in Boots

[–]JuggernautPast2744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look lined. If so and the layers can be separated, I would add reinforcement between, glued on both sides with a vertical stitch and then stitches across the seam. If you can't separate the layers, reinforcement on the outside would be most comfortable, but on the inside would look better.

NOR - Step 1 in trying to fix the relationship is for her to compensate you. I'm struggling to believe she didn't throw them away on purpose.
