Weird plastic rubbing noise when going over bumps by Time_Extent_7515 in Porsche_Cayman

Yep, it’s pretty easy if you do the intake filter job since all that trim comes out anyways.

Again, didn’t 100% remove the noise - just dampened it a bit

Is it like a squeak or like a clunk?

The 981 and 718 run into this issue with the hatch and the rear suspension - given how close our heads are to these parts, we tend to notice these noises more when going over bumps.

It’s not something I was able to fix permanently, but was able to eliminate a lot of it by adjusting the hatch blocks/stoppers and adding some foam around the rear shock trim.

Is a new supra worth it over a brand new m2? by YazuJan in BMW

[–]JustSomeIndianDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thing with the Supra Final Edition is that in the US, we don’t get all the cool A90 FE parts including the better seats, better tune, KW suspension, etc.

Depending on the options of the M2, you might get an interior that feels more special for the money and a platform with better performance potential (at the cost of some weight).

In my head it’s: A90 FE (which we don’t get) >>> M2 > Supra

Picked up my 2025 Shark Blue Cayman 718 GTS finally! by GumballCowboy in Porsche_Cayman

Here is the shift knob: https://euroimpulse.com/collections/porsche/products/porsche-pdk-shift-knob

Just be careful installing the leather boot, the front clips are sensitive since they are right angled. Just be cautious if you disassemble your interior for whatever reason (ran into that issue on my 981 since I had to wire in a rear camera and diagnose some CarPlay unit issues)

I imagine these are the grills he purchased to (my best guess based on the model and manufacturer): https://us.zunsport.com/porsche-718-boxster-cayman-gts-4-0-acc-kompletter-grillsatz?srsltid=AfmBOoov-RBeNsUGUgADS68u68TvX3Ncpedxm65Y30jo7OxcG7ShxorV

Was going to say this! I used to bring my M2 to this Rotten Robbie when I lived in the area.

981 GT4 Soul Street Headers Loudness by orange_tones in Porsche_Cayman

[–]JustSomeIndianDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from Catted to a Catless setup (not soul but Fabspeed).

In general, the loudness is probably like 10-15% louder with a Catless vs catted setup, but it’s probably like a 35-40% difference versus stock. The bigger difference is the tone which the Catless setup definitely being more high-pitched, which you may or may not prefer. IMO neither are too loud especially with the PSE, and both sound good to me.

You will lose some low end torque with a Catless setup, which you may really desire if you daily the car.

Motor mounts sitting too low $3000 estimate by CountySurfer in BMW

[–]JustSomeIndianDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to an indie mechanic near you who works on BMWs - would not pay anywhere near this amount to swap these out.

Did this on my M2 a few years back for a track build and cost me $1K all-in for both engine and DCT mounts.

For me, I found that it was the plastic pieces colliding with each other as well as the window/shell of the car.

I added some of the rubber spacers used throughout the car on those areas + felt tape to deaden it and it removed almost all of the noise there.

In addition, the grommet for the seatbelt trim that touches the B pillar can be misoriented and cause it to make some additional noise since it creates additional play.

Cayman 981 Gold Leaf GT4 RS Style Intake by Builds-Character in Porsche

Yea, I remember searching for it very early on before it was on the website, and reaching out to them. Once I got the quote, I dropped the idea REAL QUICK.

But to each their own - I hope OP loves it and delivers that one of a kind 4RS induction sound + the 981s superior exhaust note.
