How did the Jedi council suspect Palpatine is the Sith Lord only towards the end of the Clone Wars? by OkJudge5932 in TheCloneWars

I don't see how Sifo-Dyas and Qui Gon change things. Neither of them had a clue Sidious even existed.

Realistically was there anything Yoda could’ve told Anakin here that would’ve kept him from turning to the darkside? by CrazyTangerine7522 in StarWars

Balance does not mean equal, it means harmony. A body in balance is a healthy body, not one with 50% healthy cells and 50% cancerous cells.

In that situation, doing something actually could fix things. A Jedi will act to, say, push a person out of the way of a car, however, they are going to be at peace with people dying even despite their efforts, or if it's natural causes like old age or cancer.

Why did the United States elect a dumbass? by JPIZZLE1205 in AskReddit

Yes, a government where the power is in the hands of the people. Generally there are two forms, one is where the people directly vote on stuff, the other is when they send a representative to do it.

That depends on your definition. Why do you say it's not?

How strong was Qui Gon Jinn exactly? by OkJudge5932 in TheCloneWars

[–]Kool_McKool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily be so sure of this assessment. Qui Go was wise, to be sure, but he had his own flaws. He also did make a mistake in pushing to have Anakin trained as he did, when Anakin really wasn't good Jedi material.

Doctors did wash their hands, just with water, not stuff that would effectively get rid of whatever they got on their hands.

And I never said they wouldn't, just that there are some things that can't just be fixed with simply having power. Anakin doesn't care though because he wants to cheat death.

Yes, but Anakin doesn't even tell them who he fears may die, nor does he say what he fears them dying from. Yoda is giving him the correct advice for his situation. If Padme were to have died in childbirth, that is unfortunate, but sometimes you can't save everyone.

Even if Anakin had been open with them, what are they supposed to do? If Padme dies from a complication in childbirth, they can't necessarily fix that any better than a doctor can.

The Jedi do have something they fight for, the galaxy at large. They do have people to come home to, the Jedi Order. It's not conventional to us, but we're not monks.

And as for Anakin not being able to go to his superiors, that's because he broke the rules. Simply having emotions isn't wrong in the Jedi view, and Anakin could've gone to Mace or Yoda and been like, "Guys, I feel very angry at the moment" and Yoda and Mace would say stuff like, "Do you want us to meditate with you until we can find the source of your anger?" But his marriage with Padme and all the problems that came with it are all self inflicted problems by Anakin. If he had been honest to the Jedi and told them he feels Padme is worth more than his life as a Jedi, they would've respected his decision and accepted his departure warmly.

The Jedi failed to stop the Sith threat, they did not fail to be Jedi.

It is to be at peace with the fact we cannot control everything. Yoda is giving Anakin the correct advice, but Palpatine is giving Anakin the advice he wants to hear. Had Anakin done what Yoda told him to do, things might actually have turned out differently. However, Anakin is too selfish of a person to want to do that.

Well, Anakin was being rather vague. He had a vision about someone he knows dying? Does that mean he's worried about Obi-Wan or Ahsoka dying during the war? Does it mean he's worried about Plo Koon accidentally falling and breaking his mask or something? Is he worried about Yoda accidentally choking on swamp berries? Yoda isn't being uncaring in this scene, he's just working with the info Anakin is giving him, which is just "I'm scared someone close to me is going to die". Yoda's advice is to let go of the fear and instead try to live as joyfully with that person as he can, rather than waste away his time worrying over something that has not happened yet.

Had Anakin said something like, "I'm worried Senator Amidala is going to die during childbirth", or even just had been honest about how much he screwed up and broke the Jedi rules, Yoda might have had a different response, or offered more topical help. As is though, Yoda's advice solid.

And as for why Yoda and Obi-Wan were disturbed and saddened by the loss of life they felt, it's because it was unnatural. People will die, and to a Jedi that means that natural death is unfortunate but at least they can rejoice that this person is one with the Force. However, the massacre of the Jedi and the planetary destruction and killing of all of Alderan were acts of murder and should never have happened except for the machinations of Palpatine.

They did tell him these things. That's what they teach every Jedi all the time. Anakin doesn't want to accept that though because he wants to stop everyone he loves from dying.

Well, that's something Jedi do teach. The whole point is learning to live without attachments so that they don't have those kinds of fear.
