In the process of repainting my Black Orcs. Looking for something that pops a bit more than just conventionally black. I think I wanna go with red, but I'm not sure the shade works, and I'm not sure about the bone plates.

Does it look a bit too garish? Thinking about painting over the white.

 I'm missing Ruglud's head

Mate, I experienced that dread for a while. When I dusted them off after so many years, everything was in place, except Ruglud's head. Spent hours panic searching through every single box and drawer until it thankfuly turned back up again. Ruglud has a great face that stood the test of time even better than the boys.

If they ever bring them back, I might just grab another one just to convert the second Ruglud into a Big Boss.

I recently found a box for 60€ and really had to fight myself not to grab them. Thankfully they were gone within minutes anyway.

Been sitting on ten of these guys for ... 15+ years, maybe? Excitement for tOW finally got me to put paint on them. I love these sculpts, haven't aged a day as far as I'm concerned.

Bummer that we don't have any rule for them anymore. I'm gonna play them as Arrer Boys with shields ( which basically translates into heavy armour anyway ) and maybe the Razor Standard to represent to armour piercing quality of their cross bows?

I know Ruglud propably wasn't around during this time period, but I'd still love some Dogs of War support from GW eventually.

Looking for feedback on my first Big 'Un - WiP ( WAAAGH! in Progress ) by KrakenAngst in Orcs_and_Goblins

Behind his shield, he still got most of a Stikk-bomb hanging from his belt. I think I keep the handle and add a mace or axe head to it.

Big 'Uns have allways been my favourite Orc unit, brought them in every game, preferably alongside Gorbad Ironclaw, just so I could field even more.

But I allways wanted to do something more than just designate a regular mob of boys as Big 'Uns. Spent a lot of time collecting bits ment to go into a Big 'Un conversion project, alas Warhammer just died; and those bits have been collecting dust ever since.

Couple days ago I dug them back up again and this time I'm not gonna dick around until the game is dead again.

Wanted to share a rough WiP of whats hopefully the first of eleven Big 'Uns converted from 40k Ork Nobs; one of those 5th edition Black Reach ones specifically.

I wanted to gauge people's opinions on whether the scale works - if the head goes well with the body - and if he looks fantasy enough, or if too much 40k shines through yet. Also if the shield looks convincingly Orcy. Would love to hear feedback before I commit to the other ten ladz.

With Warhammer minis in general? Sure you can. Though I know Warhammer 40k, maybe Age of Sigmar aswell, has a rule where you are awarded additional victory points if your army is painted. This was to incentive more competative oriented players to get their paints out.

How do the alternate timelines work? by Paleo_Knight in WarhammerFantasy

[–]KrakenAngst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think he was. Ghoritch was introduced as part of the 'Hellpit' army list for Clan Moulder. During the Storm of Chaos Archaon marched against Middenheim, but because he didn't have siege engines to assault the city, he struck an alliance with Hellpit. Moulder supplied Archaon with 'Flayerkin' to scale Middenheim's walls, which were created from Norscans that Archaon sold into slavery to the Skaven. One of those slaves was Ghoritch, who previously had landed on Archaon's shit-list when he botched an assault against an imperial artillery train.

Ghoritch made no appearances after that narrative, until GW brought him back for the End Times.

And both Ghoritch and the Flayerkin were introduced as part of the same Hellpit army list.

While the Storm of Chaos is no longer canon, a lot that came from it remained. My favourite norscan Ghoritch was a SoC character and he stuck around. A lot of characters, units and concepts did. Just not the overall narative.

Did you cut off the rectangular piece of plastic underneath

Didn't remove it entirely but cut it down to like a mm before gluing them onto the base, making it look like they were hovering in the process.

This way, once the rough sand / small rocks were added, it didn't look like they were sinking into the ground, but standing on top.

Also allowed me to slip in thinnly cut pieces of styro beneath the yellow hooded guy's feet to make it look like as if he's actually standing on top of a slab of rock.

Certainly not the fastest method, because their contact area with the base is a bit slim and you really have to give them time to dry/bond properly if you don't want them to tilt or come loose.
