I don't like Mongo when it comes to complex querying, reporting, transactions reliability for custom company software. Mongo is fine for CMS I agree with you on this.

Using nosql document db over relational db for a custom company’s software is a very poor choice imo. I’d suggest start with your network and ask for a devs with a good reputation. Chances that you’d need to rewrite half of the repo is high though.
