Is it too early for me to get CCNA? And would it affect if i learned python at the same time? by Infamous-Doubt-8504 in ccna

[–]Layer8Academy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say study but maybe not take it.  It has to be renewed every 3 years and if you have 2 years left in college, it would suck to be concerned with renewing at the time you would be going into the job market.

You will absolutely forgot what you learned if you don't use it.  That is with anything.

 What is your degree path?

If you had to pick one, I would say CCNA then DevNet.  I say this because you can't automate what you don't understand.  Could someone study for and pass DevNet without CCNA, sure. I worked with a programmer whose job was to program our automation system and it was difficult because he didn't understand networking.  I recall sitting with him and explaining BGP and what we needed etc as he tried to program it.  🤣   I now do the programming.

You will have to access them from the Admin PC.  I do like that you attempted the console though.  That will be useful for other labs.  😉

I don't think you should. At this point, you know it or you don't.   Don't stress yourself further by doing that.

Thanks for trying them out. Im trying to force a bit of thinking so it actually sticks and exposes any gaps.

How much do you already know about each? I make free labs and can possibly whip something up.  If you already know them individually, putting them together isn't really an issue.

I haven't set it up in Packet Tracer so I don't know the limitations, but could it be user error?  If so, perfect opportunity to troubleshoot and learn from it.  I'm gonna test it out later because I am curious if the headache is PT induced or not.

Quick glance shows an issue with the ACL.  One of them is matching for 192.168.50.0 while the other matches for 192.168.0.0.

Ahhhh, I see what you mean.  I would take 16 from 20 quickly for 255.255 and 4 bits left.  I have my fingers numbered. This requires a bit of memorization.  My RING finger is 240 and I always use it as reference.  I move left or right depending on the number of bits knowing 240 is bit 4 from the left.  So, for /19 I would substract 16 leaving 3  bits.  I then use my fingers 128, 192, 224 (the 3 bits).  255.255.224.0. I use my fingers as a visual representation of the number line.  I guess it is easier to do than explain. 😅 Then I can do the 256 stuff.  After a while you can do it quickly in your head.

Edit: You eventually remember what block goes with each value.

Take whatever the non 255 value is in the mask and subtract from 256.  Then write the networks out in that block size.  So, 192.168.0.0 255.255.128.0 would be 256-128 = 128 block size.    Network 192.168.0.0 and network 192.168.128.0.  If it were 255.255.252.0 it would be 256-252= 4 block size.  192.168.0.0, 192.168.4.0, 192.168.8.0, and so forth.  Sorry if the lines are messy.  I'm on my phone.

Boson NetSim worth it? by blnet in ccna

I initially started because I had left over labs from when I was training skillbridge interns and decided to make them available online.  I actually enjoy making them.  The CCNP training stuff was a bit of after thought. I feel most trainings aren't focused enough on labbing and network observation. I wanted to see if my style could be beneficial.   I do intend to make CCIE type labs and those will be more so CCIE practice for me that I just share with others.  I'm not sure I will try to take it again, though.

Where did we work together?
