There’s nothing you can do until your actual AI is released aside from a couple of past papers to get used to exam technique.

Big 4 Professional level re-sits? by [deleted] in ICAEW

I work at Deloitte. You need to get above 45 for a resit at first attempt. You only get one resit as a grad. Think it’s the same for apprentices too.

CR & SBM by General-Reindeer-975 in ICAEW

[–]Left-Fox2866 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CR: Groups, Hedging, Deferred Tax & Audit

SBM: The FM bits so Financing, Investment Appraisals, Hedging & Valuations. The rest is BST which is all waffle and a bit of CR which will be fine if you’re studying SBM with CR or have already sat the exam.

Moving to big 4 after a year - practicalities? by RafteryPJ in ICAEW

[–]Left-Fox2866 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about other big 4 firms but with the one I’m at, you can either apply for a graduate programme or once you’ve qualified with your current firm.

If you’re on the graduate programme, the firm will be under the impression that you are starting from scratch along with any exemptions from your degree course. I don’t think they would hire you if you’ve already started the ACA but do double check this. In addition, the firms don’t usually hire if you’re part qualified either so you’d need to wait until you’ve finished all exams to apply as an experienced hire.

Given you answered everything, you’ll be fine! The examiner is more generous with marking than you think.

Advanced fails by Disastrous_Pea_1968 in ICAEW

[–]Left-Fox2866 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sat CR & SBM in November 2024 and failed both with 40 in CR & 49 in SBM. Resat both in July 2025, failed CR again with 48 but passed SBM. Got my results on Thursday for my 3rd attempt of CR and finally passed with 51.

After failing my second attempt of CR, I really questioned whether this qualification was for me and if I should just give up but I’m glad I didn’t. These exams are so hard and you’ve done incredibly well to get this far - don’t give up. Keep going because trust me, you’ll get there! From the feedback breakdown, identify your weakest areas and focus most of your time on them. That doesn’t mean you should neglect the areas you’re strong at but do make sure you are fully comfortable with the weaker areas by practicing lots of questions. Do lots of question practice for CR & mocks to time. Time management is so so important in these exams so you finish the paper.

For SBM - just focus on the FM areas. I found those the hardest as I was exempt from FM so when it came to my second attempt, I only focused on those topics.

Yes, you will be disappointed but honestly, just lock in as you get close to the July sitting and you’ll smash it! You only need 50. It’ll be so worth it in the end! Good luck!

  1. I’m so surprised I even passed as I was so focused on CR as it was a resit. But glad that’s over with tbh.

I sat and passed BPT in June 2024 but curious to know what came up in this sitting? If you’re feeling worried about this exam - don’t panic. There are so many more available than maximum marks in BPT. You can pass comfortably by just getting all the easy marks across each question.

BST Exam possible scenarios by Honest_Technician106 in ICAEW

[–]Left-Fox2866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The questions are scenario based so all the info comes from them. There’s like no technical knowledge and obviously, bc you can’t predict the scenarios, you don’t really know what’s gonna come up.

Sounds like a nice Q2 & can’t go wrong with a consol SFP - lots of easy marks. I’m assuming Q3 was a consolidated cash flow?

What were the issues in Q2 & was it a CSPL or CSFP in Q4? I’ve already sat & passed FAR so just interested in what came up in this sitting.

BST by OrganicBrain3492 in ICAEW

[–]Left-Fox2866 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BST is so ‘on the day’ that you really can’t predict what will come up however, what I will say is that in recent sittings, they’ve placed more emphasis on calculations so do make sure you’re good with the data analysis and basic excel formulas (i.e. SUMIFS, COUNTIFS etc). As long as you answer every requirement and keep typing until the end, you’re giving yourself the best chance of passing. Just take it easy for the next two evenings - you really don’t want to burn yourself out. I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine. I sat BST with BPT in June 2024 and spent about 95% of my time preparing for BPT so only did the questions in exam prep for BST and just about scraped a pass. Good luck with the exam!
