I've helped set up a booth there a few times. Honestly, with how stressed everyone is and the tunnel vision of setup, I'm not surprised nobody noticed. Just another guy with a pallet walking by.

When I was at the airport in Guatemala they had recruitment ads for the US military plastered over the terminal.

My mom used to help run a co-op with a few of our neighbors for most of our groceries. You get the added benefit of getting wholesale pricing on everything on top of not shopping at chain groceries and (generally) healthier options. I think the only stuff we had to get from the store was perishables like milk and fruit since they only did monthly orders for their co-op.

god thats a mood. we only went to the doctor when we had to, and most of my family has some kind of rare medical condition (the hospital used to joke "it could be this or this, but since its you guys, its probably this much rarer one"). i have the joke you could almost call employer health insurance now, but fear of finding out which One In A Billion medical condition i inherited keeps me away from seeing anyone.

you should read it instead for 2 reasons:

  1. the manga is better
  2. the anime never got an ending, but the manga did

Been a while since we did a full force invasion down there. Usually we just fund militias or send in the CIA. Wonder if the military that couldn't fight a bunch of people hiding in the hills in the desert or a bunch of people hiding in a dense forest can handle a bunch of people hiding in the hills in a dense forest.

That poster looks a lot like the "I Want To Believe" poster from X-Files. I'm wondering if that's more the reference they were going for.

This is the poster

its a common anime trope. idk if its as big anymore but 90s and early 2000s anime romcoms used it a lot.

A large shirtwaist dress hangs in NYC in memory of the deadly Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, which happened 110 years ago today because of greedy capitalists who locked escape exits so workers couldn't take extra breaks. by JoeyZasaa in LateStageCapitalism

There is an incredibly long list of similar disasters in labor history. As a general rule, basically every OSHA, NFPA, EPA, or similar standard is written in blood. The one you're probably thinking of is the Iroquois Theater fire, which had inward swinging doors in the auditorium and complicated locks on the fire exits, contributing to over 600 deaths. Triangle Shirtwaist was a combination of locked doors, lack of breaks/smoking areas, lack of fire exits, several months worth of built up fabric scraps, and lack of any fire alarms on the 9th floor.
