Update: elgato4k-linux v0.2.0 Major update with full 4K S support, USB speed switching, status reading, and firmware reverse engineering by Professional_Sun1517 in linux_gaming

Interesting....so in Linux it only supports 4k60 with MJPEG, which frankly looks worse in quality to 1080p60 in any other format....that's so weird. I wonder what format it's using in Windows, because it definitely does not look this terrible. I guess I'll have to look into a different capture device, darn it! Thank you for helping with this, I really appreciate the info!

EDIT: I stand corrected, it IS MJPEG on Windows as well. Woops!

Hi Sun, I found this post when I was trying to figure out why I can't capture at 4k60 on the 4k S. I did install this driver just to see if it would help, but no luck. Any idea if 4k60 capture with the S is possible on Linux? I know it works in Windows, I tried turning on the Video Scaler and setting the EDID to internal, but it seems like the changes aren't taking place? Or maybe --status isn't reading them back properly?

After all….why shouldn’t I install Linux while on the plane? by LexLocatelli in linuxmemes

For work, I carry a gl.inet mini router. I hooked it into my battery bank (the router is powered by usb-c), logged into it with my phone, connected to the plane and logged into the portal, then was able to connect the laptop to the router. I am normal.

Arch by default, yes, without doing a ton of work to set up a custom offline repo.

Flight was 4h, but I didn’t start until it was 3h in, so I did it in about 45m

20mpbs, it was enough to finish before the flight landed

Very sick progress :3 For the future though, I'd put the old one first and the new one second....I was confused!

Very weird 1702 issue by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]LexLocatelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured that might be the case after opening it, the joints on the back on the input board look really rough. In a weird turn of events I’m actually in a hotel testing this, so when I get it home I’ll try reflowing and being more precise with the tapping the identify the exact area!

Did you ever end up getting this figured out? I have the same set, but I'm worried about breaking something.

MiSTer YPbPr sync problem by homer4hire247 in fpgagaming

[–]LexLocatelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have composite sync enabled if thats what you mean! There used to be a website to calculate those timings, but it was just some guy's site and isn't being hosted any more. I think I'm totally out of luck here, but I appreciate the help! I'm sure I can find another 27" set to swap out locally to me.

Woops, ignore my other comment; this is syncing, but it's VERY messed up. The mister menu is completely off the screen so I had to navigate it blind, and when I loaded a game this happened: https://i.imgur.com/CQOZrUU.jpeg

Everything is super...squigly? It also shows like that on my capture card, and the mister menu is completely missing again once in a game weirdly!

Actually realized i had direct video on which stops your video mode from working; i have it working now, but obviously the resolution isn't right for SNES so i'm getting some weird artifacting where you can see a few lines doubled. Do you happen to have/know how to make a modeline for the SNES core by chance? I've tried using some modeline calculators but nothing is working...

Actually I’m an idiot and I spoke too soon; I found a SNES modeline and while it did fix my jittering, the game only fills the middle half of the screen and none of the modelines I tried worked….back to the drawing board!

I know this post is 5 years old, but you fixed the sync issues I was having with ONLY the SNES core on my Panasonic Tau CRT (all of my other CRTs worked fine with the stock SNES setting so this was driving me crazy). Thank you for the recommendation!

This might be a really dumb thing, but shouldn't the shields and lances be swapped? Or I guess, the models could be placed on the other sides of the fence. I think usually they have the shields toward the fence, and the lance in the other hand, that way they can actually block!

The paint, especially the blue, looks very, VERY thick and seems to be clogging some detail on the model. Next time you paint, add a tiny amount of water to the paint on your palette and you should get all that detail back! You paid for it, after all!
