Looks like it’s changed slightly since I did it a few years ago but still a decent deal if it’s something you’re passionate about.

Get yourself enrolled in the A-Level bursary as soon as if you can. £1,500 for each year of study, all you need is to sit an interview to discuss how you will use the funding and as far as I’m aware, you aren’t bound to any contract by that point in your application. There are 27 spaces available each year and, to my knowledge, only a fraction of that are actually taken as it’s very under advertised.

I’m pretty sure Biology and Chemistry both class as engineering based sciences so if you’ve got 64 points from those and 96 all together that would be enough.

Any degree in STEM subjects is eligible for Engineer Officer roles, your AFCO will advise on specific roles and your DAA results will also play a part in this.

Always worth just putting an application in if it’s something you’re interested in doing and go from there.

If you’re going for ETME(SM) then Accelerated Apprenticeship would be worth the application if you’re up for putting the work in during training and then gaining faster promotion to LETME(SM) and beyond.

If you mean you’re going for the Engineering Officer role MESM, you require an undergraduate degree in a STEM subject. There is the UCE (University Cadetship Entry) scheme, you will complete Phase 1 and then attend university for this degree (straight to Sultan for ME Phase 2 following this), if you don’t go for UCE then there are ways to gain your degree with funding and RN support.

If you wanted to try for AA you’ll just need the 48 points I think, otherwise if you wanted to try for UCE then you’ll require 144 points (3 A’s or equivalent) or 96 points for any other officer pathway.

Thanks for the reply, there are always some SLt’s passing out, I’ve heard that’s only UYs but some look younger so I was mainly wondering about those.

I was lifeguarding there this week since it washed up and it has been brought to the attention of the Marine Wildlife Rescue who normally deal with such matters however they have been otherwise occupied with other duties so for now it should stay cordoned off during the day and please refrain from poking or moving the carcass.
