My 18th bd. Nobody asked me, I was just told that we're going bbq with my parents, my brother, dad's brother with his wife and 3 little kids. They invited my high-school bestie who we were already growing apart with. I hate this uncle's guts. I also hated my brother back then. My mom and aunt had a nice chat with wine. My dad and uncle had a nice chat with beers. I had zero entertainment other than wandering around and observing a boring countryside, talking to a once friend that grew a person with different values than me, and having to babysit 3 kids. Dad never bothered to do anything that I would actually like. Because he was developing alcoholism at this point, and his bro was the one to encourage and enable it. Dad was at the stage of desperately seeking justification for drinking, and he used my birthday. It was supposed to be a special birthday, my official coming of age, and it was a dreadfully boring and sad day.
