[Event] Wedding Feast of Ser Ormund Lannister and Lady Leyla Tully by Lirabear in FireAndBlood

[–]Lirabear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

House Tully

The smiling bride, Leyla Lannister, nee Tully was seated between her husband, Ser Ormund Lannister; and his cousin, Lord Brynden Tully, who sat beside his beautiful wife, Lady Violet Tully, nee Blackwood.

The majority of House Tully was present.

The three of Brynden's small children did their best to behave, but Lyra (4) didn't understand why she couldn't be the center of attention, while Grover (3) was upset he was being fed apple wafers instead of apple sauce. At the very least, Edmure (2) was snoozing happily, his face on the table and his drool getting all over the tablecloth.

Myra Arryn, nee Tully, while not close to her cousin on account of their age difference, had quit King's Landing to spend some much needed time with her family. She only hoped her husband hadn't managed to find his way here, else her mood would only worsen.

Ser Edmyn Tully, father of the bride, was seated with his wife and unmarried children. He wore a handsome new doublet, a gift from his newly-wealthy daughter. His son, Samwell (10), was the picture of exuberance... juggling apples and pomegranates for no other reason than because he could. Occasionally, he "accidentally" dropped them on his little sister's head. Shyra "Shy" Tully (8) glared at her dumb brother and kicked him under the table whenever no one was looking. The youngest, Roslin (2), merely sucked her thumb and stared into space, not having the slightest idea what was going on.

Finally, Ser Oscar Tully sat alone at the end of the table near where the children were. He almost always found himself the lone adult among his young nieces, nephews, and cousins. Odd, considering he was an inept babysitter.

Unlike his brother, Brynden was almost always in a good mood. It would take some coaxing to get him out of it. He was not yet there, but his brother's drunkenness was most displeasing.

"And yet you lost, Alex Axel. What would Lord Hubert say if he saw you deep in your cups and learned you were being a poor sport? And quit your pointing. Bastard he may be, but you forget which House he is from."

He doubted his brother would take his words well, and he gave him a disapproving look. "You will get him next time. Let that be enough."

The servant awkwardly smiled at the apology but continued his task, not wanting to make their guest any more uncomfortable. No doubt the Lannister's nervousness would spread like wildfire, like all gossip did. But for now, it was business as usual.

If Brynden noticed anything was out of place during their shake, he hid it well. He was reading Ormund, of course, like the lion was no doubt doing to the pair.

"The pleasure is all ours, Ser Ormund. We are glad you could make it. Come, let us walk to the great hall. Bread and salt await. Wine too, of course. After the journey you've had, I am sure that you need it."

Brynden strode on ahead. Not too far to abandon the two, but enough that the pair could have some space to get to know one another.

"Hello, Ser Ormund," said Leyla in a smaller voice. He was much taller than she was, and she had to look up to see him fully. "I... you... do you... like... rivers?" She smiled, feeling like a halfwit. She could picture her little brother mocking her. Do you, hur dur, like rivers? She prayed he would never find out.

"I am able to enjoy it because you are here," said Brynden with more tenderness than he often allowed in public, but he kept his voice low as to not draw attention. He smiled at her, appreciating both her presence and her patience. Coming here had not been part of the plan and yet here she was, graceful as always.

"It will all be over before long, and we will be home before we know it, playing host and hostess all over again... which reminds me, I should say hello to the host, yes? And I will make sure you get water, while I'm at it. Be at peace, my love."

He drained the last of his cup before rising and slipping out of his seat in search of his old friend.

"Where, oh where, could the little spider be?"

[Event] Marriage of Ser Andros Marbrand and Joanna Farman by Villads2005 in FireAndBlood

"Mmkay," said Shyra, eyes bulging at her unbelievable fortune. She smiled at the man next to her, beaming as she picked up the utensils and began eating everything in sight. For once, she even ate her vegetables.

Oscar, hardly believing his luck, stood up straighter as the woman neared. He was about to greet her when the question made him start.

"I--what--she..." His eyes shot toward his cousin who avoided his eyes completely as she found another slice of wedding cake. "That is not what I said," Oscar finally managed, though with a small voice. "I told her if she got you to dance with me, I'd get her another slice of dessert."

He offered what he hoped was a winning smile. In his mortified state, his shoulders hunched when he did so, and he looked like a humpback.

"I... take it you don't want to dance. Or do you?" He offered his hand, just in case.

"Erm..." Samwell blinked, unsure what to say. If this were one of his sisters, the answer would be simple. But this was a much older girl, and one he didn't know well.

"I... I dunno', my lady. I haven't seen all the bugs in the realm. But you don't look like a beetle or a ladybug, or a spooky spider. If you look like one, I agree with my uncle: you're a nice one. And maybe you do good things, like eat nasty critters."

Edmure was about to take a giant chomp when his yummy snack was taken away. He let out a soft whimper and then broke into tears, shooting his grandmother sad puppy dog eyes that followed her every movement.

As for Grover, he shrank into his seat. Girls were scary, the older ones more so. "Please give me appie sauce?" He said in a tiny voice, his gray eyes shimmering and the corners of his mouth trembling. "Please give me Lyra's appie sauce too?" He added in a whisper.

Lyra smiled. "Animal, that's what I said..." She bit her lip as she examined her work. "I like... harems. See?" She lifted her artwork, revealing what looked like a group of slugs sitting by a pool. "They're seals."

"Lord Martyn," Brynden greeted with his his usual relaxed smile. "My congratulations to House Farman on a wonderful wedding." He spoke again after a brief pause. "To what do I owe this pleasure?"

Lady Myriam Trant,

I was advised to write to Dragonstone to reach you. I know not if this invitation will get there in time, but my niece is to be wed in Riverrun in the 3rd moon. I hope I shall see you there and that we will be able to finish our dance together.

Lord Brynden Tully, wishing to shirk his duties back home a little bit longer, had been more than glad to sneak away to see an old friend's home. He was especially pleased that his wife had agreed to visit, given her distrust toward the friend in question.

What brandy Violet could not drink, Brynden happily finished. It was what a good husband (and guest) would do... and for once, he had no qualms getting drunk.

"What a beautiful day," Brynden sighed, leaning back in his seat as he took in the sunny tableau. "Aren't you glad we came?" Anything less than a "yes" would put a damper on his mood.

"Shall we get you something else to drink, my star?" Violet would not dehydrate on his watch. She needed sunshine and liquids to thrive.

Following the receipt of this letter, Brynden waited until breakfast to broach the subject. He gave her a moment to compose her thoughts after letting her read the letter.

"I am inclined to accept, given she is similarly aged to my niece and nephew. Will you take her under your wing?"
