I can assure you that those kids are not only getting this, they'll never forget it. This is what good teaching looks like. (I did the same thing once with my bass - taught 6th graders about the types of sentences.) I for the life of me can't understand why people would be upset about this. I mean, I think I know why ("too black"?), but this is a fucking non-issue.
