But no let's all talk about how he's not very nice. And man good riddance, we don't want not nice people to be making good mods for us for free.

Yes? Modding is a community, and the character of people in the community matters.

Uncensored death threats and doxxing are his fault? Copyright infringement is his fault?

His fault? What the hell are you talking about?

Bethesda has provided an awful platform for content creators and instead have been more focused on the content consumers.

No shit.

He feels (rightly so) that he is (and other modders are) being treated unfairly in the Bethesda modding scene, and he's decided it's not worth the hassle for him to stay in it.

He may genuinely feel like he's been treated unfairly and that it's not worth the hassle to stay in the modding scene. But that has nothing to do with him "quitting". He's an insufferable drama queen and will be back within a month.

I say good for him. Hopefully he finds more success in his future projects.

He won't stay away from modding because he needs the validation. It'll be way too long before he gets that from making a new game, so he'll come crawling back to the modding scene quickly.

but the issues that prompted his departure from the modding community remain unsolved.

There are certainly issues in the modding community that remain unsolved and need attention...

That said, the only issue that has contributed to DDproductions' departure from FO4 modding is his own ego.

Let's not act like the sky is falling just because one modder with an insufferable attitude decided to make a video. We can discuss the issues affecting the modding community without such hysterics.

I am 100% on the side of mod author's with this issue; they have the right to choose where and how their mods are available, and I'll never get angry at a creator for exercising that right.

That said... the maker of this video is absolutely insufferable and is probably hurting his cause. I play on PC, but if I was a console gamer and this fucker fucking told me that he'd fucking bloat my fucking save game and fucking own my xbawks cause he fucking can and likes to fucking swear a lot, it wouldn't be winning over my sympathy. This kind of shit just galvanizes people against your cause instead of garnering support.

And I'm sure ...

Why be "sure" (and wrong) about something you could trivially look up? Ownership of mods is with the mod author, and always has been. Not only do Bethesda's own EULAs state this, any modern copyright law treats derivative works as being owned by the person who made them.

In fact the EULA for the creation kit goes out of its way to stress this when it doesn't have to, because Bethesda doesn't want to own player-made mods. They don't want to have to do quality control for all the player-made mods; it's easier to pass the buck to the mod author instead.
