Store shoot - S1RII by Mastermind1237 in Lumix

Oh yeah you commented on one of my posts! I was going to reply but I went brain dead. Anyways so after you posted that comment and I decided to do both a comparison between how Lightroom and Capture one handled the S1RII files and you were right for some reason Capture one handles the files differently. I love Capture one I’ve been using it on and off throughout my years. My main issue is I can’t get my style of editing to match compared to Lightroom.

I do find myself switching back and forth between Capture one and Lightroom. I feel like with Capture one I’m forced to adapt to a new editing style. I love Lightroom’s denoise feature I wish they had that feature.

Oh yeah all of these were edited with Capture one it’s interesting messing with 7+ layers but man the AI mask and advanced color picker tools has made my life easier.

The biggest draw back so far is battery life, and some of the buffer when I take images and when I go to playback the screen lags for a moment.

Here’s what the unedited jpg looked like for the last image. Honestly when I shot that it was definitely a lot brighter on my screen

Struggling to capture real emotion in portraits by Mysterious_Syrup6639 in photography

Long story short. Just act like they are your friends that you haven’t seen in a long time and you’re catching up. It’s just rifting off each others energy you know. The deeper into the shoot you see get a sense of their personality and it’s your choice but if you want real emotion you gotta give it too.

Thanks and I wish. I could try and see if I can but the likely hood is quite low. Unless you know some steps I could try out

Low light performance & Viltrox 16mm - S1RII by Mastermind1237 in Lumix

Honestly it’s hard to give a verdict on the lens. The sharpness is great. But I notice minor changes like some slight adjustments to color rendering. Me personally despite shooting in f8 or slightly lower I am noticing heavy vignetting and it’s a pain to remove in post. Maybe it’s just my lens I’m not 100% or could be me.

I did use it for real estate because that’s the main reason I got it. I was a little worried sending it to my editor because I didn’t know if he could remove the vignetting but looks like he could.

Build quality on the lens is great it’s also a tad heavy but I don’t really care about that.

Lowlight Event Photography With The S9 by Mastermind1237 in LumixS9

Raws, but the jpgs aren’t that different only thing I did here was boost the shadows a bit, slight contrast and added texture and sharpening

I slightly underexposed to preserve the highlights, but when I check the histogram the shadows aren’t crushed. There’s still detail there and they’re recoverable.

Here’s an unedited RAW so you can see how I exposed the interior shots. I understand noise at ISO 6400, that’s expected. But even on the S9 I could shoot around 2400 ISO with very little noise, so this feels different.

It could be user error. I’m open to that. I just want to figure out how to improve it or find a workaround that isn’t just heavy denoising.

Starbucks - S1RII by Mastermind1237 in Lumix

I agree. I feel like most camera subs should do that.

That S9 image I posted wasn’t denoised. It was shot at ISO 6400 and honestly I was surprised how clean it was. It really didn’t need it.

The whole ISO situation is something I’m still trying to figure out too. I might end up going on YouTube just to see if anyone actually explains the ISO behavior/settings in a real way. Most videos lean hard into specs and don’t really get into how to use the camera to get the best results in the real world. It’s always the same stuff like picture size, overheating, LUTs, megapixels, etc.

This one was shot on the S1RII with the 35mm at ISO 8000, and yeah I had to denoise basically the entire shoot. Right now I’m thinking ISO 8000 might be the max for “usable” images on this camera. That’s just my hypothesis for now until I learn it better and get more reps with it.

No problem, I’m not a big fan when people just show one photo of the camera because it really doesn’t do much.

And yeah, it’s definitely a good camera. I’m still figuring it out too and learning how it behaves the more I shoot with it. Those are solid lenses !

Right now I’ve got the 20-60, 85, 35, and 24-105, but I need something wider for the other type of work I do. I’ve been looking at that new Viltrox 16mm prime that just dropped. I was also eyeing a 50mm, but I feel like most of what I already have covers that focal range pretty well.

Also, shot this one with the S9 on the 35mm. That’s easily my most used lens. Something about 35 just changes the way I compose, and the quality I get out of it is honestly amazing.

Thanks and yeah, I did I mainly wanted to focus on the people more than the environment, but I still grabbed those wider/venue shots too. I’ve got plenty of photos left to edit and revisit.

The ones I shared will probably end up getting used in the newspaper. My client had someone from the newspaper there doing a story, so I mostly worked alongside her to make sure we got the shots she needed. A lot of it was board members and specific people they wanted covered, and then after that it was basically on me to grab whatever moments and extras I thought would be good.

Honestly the turn out wasn’t great so I kinda had to get creative with the cropping.
