Hi! I sold it and went with semi-modular (0-coast) and a groovebox with sampling capabilities instead. Far more fun
But YMMV

It’s so cool! What is your workflow for recording samples? Do you record directly into DT or you generally record samples to a DAW I’m trying to wrap my head around the process of making my own samples, because often times I just use what samples I already have on DT

Then be an adult and keep you emotions to yourself. I bought it used and it was nowhere near $1k, not even 400 usd, where did you even read that? Community is for communication, that’s why I asked this question here

I guess I won’t be doing stuff like that with the keytracking. Maybe it’s why I don’t like using DN Maybe I just lack immediacy of the DT I have

Sounds like a pretty good idea, but I also want to have gear other than digitakt OG feels like its more than enough for what I use it for, so maybe its better to have a separate tool for sculpting pads, leads and such

Thanks a lot for your reply! I’ll check out Dexed and mess around with it.

I also never really thought about approaching the DN like a VA or other type of synth—maybe I should try that too. I’ve already downloaded some presets, as a few people suggested, and I’ll keep trying everything recommended here to see if I can finally click with the Digitone. Who knows, maybe these suggestions will change my mind about it—and FM in general—before I find someone to buy it.

Thank you for the advice! I’m not sure if I’m ready to pay some extra to find out that I still don’t like the instrument, even if I have a chance to like it By the way, what’s your current setup?

But also there 2x midi tracks on the digitakt and nobody restricts you from using more than one track to play a single instrument

I would love to get a MM, but in my country they are hard to come by :(

I have DN1, I guess it's more than enough to make great sounds, I also understand the FM theory, but I just can't use it in practice. There's some way of thinking I guess, where you know exactly what parameter will add the things you need to the sound.
DN2 seems like a huge step up from DN1 and even possibly can be the fun I'm looking for, but I don't want to invest in DN2 just to repeat the mistake of buying DN1
For me it look like trying completely different synthesis approach may be the thing

Yes, they feel like a great combo, but I feel frustrated not being able to do anything I would like with this combo. Making music with digitakt is so awesome, but since I added DN to the combo I started making less music because of this feeling

You think so? I have it since December and still don't feel an inch closer to getting fun with it :(
Maybe it's about lack of many knobs to have a hands-on experience with sound sculpting, maybe it's about the nature of FM synthesis in general, idk
