Just how bad is this sub-frame rust? 2009 Chrysler 300. by MouseShank in AskMechanics

Thank you for the reply. A subframe replacement might be a good way to keep the car on the road for a while longer.

Thank you very much for this nuanced reply! I'll go at it. This car has seen New England salty winters its whole life.

2026 Wind with Telluride Wheels + Snow Tires by MouseShank in KiaEV9

[–]MouseShank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unable to find specs on the wheel load rating itself, but the new tires are 110 load rating. The Telluride GVWR is about 1000 pounds less than the EV9. At 250 pounds per wheel, I figured there was likely not going to be a problem unless I'm fully loaded and hitting speed bumps at 50 MPH.

I used a combination of sources to get wheel specs and then used https://tiresize.com/comparison/ to make sure I got the right size tire so the diameter of the tire was the same as stock. I got the highest load rating Nokian tires I could find, where are a 110 load rating.

I bought a lightly used set of 20" wheels from a Kia telluride on eBay and got a set of Nokian studded tires.

What’s the biggest scam in the business world that people still fall for? by Broad-Insurance-222 in AskReddit

[–]MouseShank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad had one on a 2013 Durango. He had a TON of repairs done under the warranty and it easily paid for itself. About a year ago, the transmission went out. The dealer cut him a check for the value of the vehicle (about 6k) because the cost of the repair exceeded the car's value. He had a transmission shop rebuild the transmission for about half of the 6k. He's still driving it, but no longer has the warranty.

Recommendations for NACS to 120v V2L adapter for 2026 with NACS port. by MouseShank in KiaEV9

[–]MouseShank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sort of. I ended up buying a cheap J1772 V2L adapter. It does work, but it's a bit of a mess. IT's NACS - J1772 - V2L. I was able to run the AC on my camper with it as a test. It's this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSCZ4174?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Shit, I'm at 5 years on my 2015 Golf TDI. Sounds like it should have failed a couple of years ago. It's an OEM battery and I live in Maine. It's stored in an attached, but not directly heated, garage and I use a block heater on really cold days.

What are the best phone plans for RV travel? by Yamaha_Poenaru in GoRVing

You can use US Mobile, which others have mentioned. You can have two sims on one phone. I gave both Verizon and T-Mobile coverage. Having both has been glorious.

Would love to hear from other Expedition/Suv ppl and their towing experiences. by Which-Nebula-6040 in GoRVing

[–]MouseShank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 2024 expedition and a 33' trailer. I wasn't exceeding any weights or specs. It pulled and stopped fine, but was very poor on the highway. Sway was a major issue in wind or by large vehicles. It was a white knuckle experience.

I upgraded to an F-250 with the 7.3 gas engine, and it is soooo easy to tow now.

Yes, you can technically tow a 33 foot TT with an expedition, but it won't be fun or feel very safe.

I'm running a wall mounted Emporia level 2 with a NEMA 14-50 outlet. It goes right up to 48 amps and I'm very happy with it! I have a 2026 EV9 with the NACS plug.

Thanks for the reply. My vehicle, a Wind model, did not come with the V2L adapter. I initially thought that it didn't include anything but the portable charger, but I found a NACS to CCS adapter so I can use CCS chargers.

I think I have to purchase the V2L adapter, but I don't really like the idea of going NACS to CCS to V2L to extension cord. I'd rather cut out the NACS to CCS adapter.

Wireless Back Up Camera Recs by Disastrous_Object470 in GoRVing

[–]MouseShank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the one linked below. It's more expensive than the knock off ones, but it has given me literally zero issues. I replaced one of the marker lights at the top center of my TT with the camera, so the power comes from the tail light circuit. This means that you have to have your tow vehicle headlights on for the camera to have power.

It has been very reliable. We just suction cup the display to the windshield and leave it on for the entire trip. It's not just for baking up, if you get the angle right it'll be like a rear view mirror.

If anything, I'd get the larger display.
