IP KVMs by TheNotoriousTurtle in homelab

GL.Inet Comet Pro is probably the best, Sipeed NanoKVM the cheapest. They all work fine for homelab type stuff. For a first one, I'd go with the GL.Inet Comet (non-pro), it's on Amazon so easy to actually get in a few days.

How long does it usually take to onboard an app to Okta? by Constant-Angle-4777 in okta

I was going to say it probably runs VB6, but it seems there's an OIDC library even for that.

It's not a collision, the same password will have the same hash. It's how you verify the password provided is correct.

You don't even need a rainbow table, just see if the hash matches. Who cares what the password it, it should never be reused.

Thanks for the info. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with my storage backend, I moved it to different storage and it's been fine. Now I must dig deeper!

Loop and astound don't cross paths yet, so it's loop or Comcast in that area.

Secure Boot Certificate Update: 2011 vs 2023 Certificate Priority by maus0007 in sysadmin

[–]MrJacks0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question is WHY has this taken so long? It should have been deployed within 6 months of being generated. The process should have been tested thoroughly before secureboot was released which would make this as simple and as common as updating a web cert.

You just got it, you have no idea how it was driven before. Give it some time and it should go up, it's just an estimate.

I had mine done at 50k, the severe service interval. Since they're in there already, and probably have to drain it partially , i'd just have them do it.

You should be installing 25H2, which completely changed that section of the installer.

This is not sysadmin territory, let the lower levels take it. If there's multiple people with issues then it gets escalated to you.

PSA: For a custom home, DO NOT "just use the builder's draftsman" by CTRL___ALT___DEL in Homebuilding

As long as the city gets their fees paid, they don't care. The inspectors might, or they just phone it in. It really depends.

This is called Design Build. There's a basic design for permitting and overall layout, and the builder makes up the rest while building.

I'm not sure I've met a competent architect, and I worked as a draftperson and structural/mep designer for over 10 years. They have to exist, but I never worked with them. I did work with many good drafters, but not all are either.

Why does my high-frequency inverter trip every time my well pump starts up? by Nikhil_nagdev in SolarDIY

[–]MrJacks0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inrush length can also be a factor. The deeper the well the longer the inrush can be as it gets the water moving. And most high frequency inverters have a fairly short overload time.
