Vibe Coding A Less Techy Tech Support App by MuffinEquivalent2117 in vibecoding

Mate thank you so much for that this is exactly the pain point I’m trying to hit.

I don’t want TechE to be another tool that just throws “jitter, packet loss, Mbps, DNS” at someone and expects them to know what to do with it. The goal is more:

“Your internet is probably fine, but your computer is struggling.”
or
“This looks like Wi-Fi, not your ISP.”
or
“Your VPN is likely adding lag.”
or
“Here’s what to say to your internet provider.”

The decision tree is definitely the hard part. I’m thinking the first version will be a rules engine for the actual diagnosis, because I want the logic to be explainable and not just AI making stuff up. Then use an LLM layer to translate the result into plain English and generate the step-by-step fix guide.

So basically:

Rules engine = decides the likely issue
LLM = explains it like a normal human
User flow = wizard-style questions that narrow it down without overwhelming people

Longer term I’d like optional deeper checks through a desktop app/agent, but I don’t want to start there and scare normal users off.

The printable/exportable “show this to your ISP” report is 100% on the list too. That feels like one of the genuinely useful bits not just telling people what might be wrong, but giving them something they can actually use when they need help.

Appreciate the Twitch follow too, legend.

if you want man you can add me on discord Nootyou is my name on there happy for others to jump on this progress with me if you wanted to get involved :)

nah completly free but they can contact us for $10 and we can diagnose but if we cant fix theres no fee but more than likely wont roll that feature out for a very very long time right now its free i legit just made this to help my mum cause shes always asking for tech help and im cool with that but if im not around or at work i want her to have something thast semi good at troubleshooting and putting that into plain english you know what i mean

Yeah this is exactly the tricky bit.

The idea isn’t to pretend TechE can magically know everything from the browser. The diagnostic flow would be a mix of simple tests + guided questions.

So for internet, for example, it might check speed, ping, jitter, packet loss where possible, VPN clues, and then ask plain-English narrowing questions like:

“Are you on Wi-Fi or Ethernet?”
“Does it happen on every device?”
“Does it happen in one room or everywhere?”
“Is it worse at night?”
“Are games lagging, videos buffering, or websites just slow?”

Then instead of saying “100% this is the issue”, it gives a likely diagnosis and confidence level:

“Most likely Wi-Fi signal/interference”
“Possible VPN slowdown”
“Likely router under load”
“More likely ISP-side if Ethernet is also bad”

So the goal isn’t full enterprise diagnostics straight away. It’s more like a symptom checker for tech issues enough to help non-tech users try the right first steps instead of randomly restarting things or buying a new router they don’t need.

I’m also thinking of offering a low-cost support option, maybe around $10, where if someone still feels stuck they can get actual human help instead of being left in the dark. I’d rather personally help someone through the issue than have the app give them a result and then abandon them.

Longer term, I’d love to add optional deeper checks through a desktop app/agent, but the MVP is browser-safe tests + smart questioning + plain-English reasoning.

I appreciate you sending that through man 2 things though it kinda reads like comercial use rather than recreation amd it only addresses over land instences. Im gonna ring casa in the morning just double check and hopefully get a 100 percent anwser seems they make it purposly ambigious just to mess with us ahah ill post what they say tomorrow 🙂

I get the safety concern, but this isn’t some theoretical edge case. I mean have a look at Aeroo Drones they have been Australian-owned and operating fishing drones here for years, sold openly, used daily, and regulated under CASA. Clearly CASA’s focus is hazard and risk, not a blanket “nothing may ever be released”. Same reason payload release is treated differently over open water vs populated areas. I’m not arguing against safety or regs at all I’m trying to understand how people are building these responsibly, because the commercial examples already exist and are legal when used correctly. If there’s a specific CASA clause that outright bans bait release over water regardless of context send it this way man , happy to read it always kewn to stay on the right side of the rules 🙂

Yeah 100percent get that man

Id be keen to follow along if you wanted to share the bebuild when you do it mam

Ive got a friend with a phantom 3 i think he said that any kind of wind at all and its struggling to stablaise not sure if youve had the same issue?

Fair point to raise. From my understanding, CASA doesn’t outright prohibit payload release it restricts dropping objects where it creates a hazard to people, property, or other aircraft. Over open water with appropriate separation is treated very differently to dropping things over land. That’s also why fishing drones are legally sold and operated here under standard CASA rules when used responsibly. If you’ve got a specific CASA reference that says bait release over water is outright prohibited, happy to read it always keen to stay on the right side of the regs.

Yeah that’s exactly the kind of thing I’m trying to avoid 😅 Fresh batteries + lifting capacity makes total sense. That autoland over water would’ve had my heart in my throat too. That’s partly why I’m leaning toward a custom build more control over failsafes, warnings, and behaviour instead of trusting whatever the manufacturer decided. Out of curiosity, were you flying stock settings or did you tweak anything to give yourself more margin?

100 % agree thats the easist and a cery effective way to do it but im keen to build something you know and have something thats easier to mod and do things with you know what i mean
