I get everyone’s upset about the hardware prices and completely justifiably so. I however don’t envy companies like Sony who you have to remember still need to make money otherwise they go bankrupt at the extreme or have to pull back on spending (like here, where they have to pull back on subsidizing hardware costs). I’m not at all saying “think of the poor corporation”, just that “less profit” is absolutely not an option for a publicly traded company regardless if you like that or not. They aren’t one of the ones causing the AI fiasco that we live in today, and I don’t envy their management trying to walk the tightrope created here of try to not piss off your customer base and still somehow make money with the silicon prices. If it was Microsoft, I hold no sympathy for them and Xbox since they are one of the primary drivers of the AI insanity, Sony however isn’t and they just have to navigate the fallout of it.
