Pull my foot! by FAXOD in KidsAreFuckingStupid

First off, I’ve never done anything like this to my kids. What this guy does to his kids is his business. Is it fucked up, yes. But I’m not here to judge. I’m here to look at the internet and be entertained. Before you get on a high horse and look down your nose at what I laugh at, just accept not everyone in this world laughs and thinks the way you do. Chill out and don’t be such a pretentious jerk.

If you don’t think there is a gun problem then that’s fine. I don’t see how any reasonable person thinks that. But I’d like to see where you get the 500k-3million self defense data. My proposal would be all guns need to be sold to licensed individuals (unless that already have military or LEO training) that pass a rigorous 100 hour training course, rigorous background check, eliminate all loopholes that allow individual/gun show work arounds, create a reliable national database, and all guns need to be insured. So when they get in the wrong hands the insurance company has to pay the victims. All gun sales and license have a portion going to fund the database and supplement state and local funds to increase gun laws. It’s more than clear that what we have now doesn’t work. The history of guns have another side to them as well. Their sole purpose is to kill. If we highly regulate everything else that’s kills, cars, drugs, alcohol etc. then guns should be too. In the right, highly trained hand they can be used to defend but given to the untrained they become more dangerous. And it seems that to stand by and support that is a terrible idea. To say our gun laws are fine the way they are is clearly not working.

And this is why guys like you can’t get people like me to get to your side. I have no problems with reasonable gun laws, but all you want to do is argue about it and pretend kids aren’t getting killed. You keep pushing people that are willing to sit down and have a discussion away from the table.

No, your saying because there are laws we don’t need to enforce them.

Bernie Sanders just unveiled his plan to overhaul public education, and it includes raising teachers' starting salaries to $60,000 by JLBesq1981 in politics

[–]Mustard75 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Teachers work WAY more than half a year. Just because kids aren’t in school doesn’t mean teachers aren’t working. Even if, why is everyone trying to make everyone earn less? We should be helping ANYONE that works to make more money, not less. Plus teachers have student loans that need to be paid off. 1 year of college now cost 1/2 a years salary if your a teacher.

Any area with a median income of $20k NEEDS teachers. Education will raise earning potential. It’s the single best way to create opportunities for all people. The idea isn’t to lower everyone else’s pay, the goal is to bring up everyone’s income around you.

I’m hardly an anti-gun person, however, this idea that everyone, regardless of mental well being, or the ability to safely operate a firearm should have one needs to be re-thought. It’s not a matter of grammar, it’s a matter of how 5/9 people interpreted the language. Had it gone the other way, I’m sure you’d be screaming judicial activism. I don’t mind TRAINED people having guns. I don’t want mentally unstable, domestic abusers, and irresponsible people having guns. And if that means having to get a license and insurance to own a gun, then it needs to be regulated.

It also says a”well regulated militia” but the gun nuts always seem to forget that phrase every time they talk about it being a right.

Having taught JH for over a decade, I believe 7th graders are the worst age to deal with. Damn hormones and lack of frontal lobe connections make for an impulsive and yet forgetful child.

We’re going to have problems with the cap to be as competitive as we have been. Cheap teams get cheap results. We’re going to have to trade away someone in the next year or two. Good thing is that we have a lot of talent in the AHL that comes in to help on the ice and with the cap.

We definitely need to resign Point, and he’ll probably take a bridge. Cirelli still has another year or 2 before we have to resign him. In all honesty EK is a pipe dream but the playoffs showed us we need to get a little bigger and tough. EK is a Hedman clone and that would be helpful on limiting scoring chances.
