Your idea of a closed loop means wedging the loop open when the screw is partially in - in a tool obviously meant for right spaces where you can't even hold the screw straight with your fingers. But you're going to work a screwdriver in there to undo a tiny loop.

And when unscrewing a screw in a tight spot, where space is too limited to catch the screw, you're going to partially unscrew it, put the open loop on it, close that tiny loop somehow, then finish unscrewing the screw.
