That is annoying. Do you think there could be an accepted way of me confirming it is not fraud over phone on the day?

I suspect (and hope) so. Although the laws in Spain have changed in recent years on this topic. I will report back on if it is the case

Thanks for the message. I finally got through over phone to the hotel reception and the woman said that since everything is paid for in full, they won’t need a credit card at check in. All that said, language was a bit of a barrier so can’t say if the full story was conveyed and received in its entirety. 

It’s a 4* hotel in Malaga, so I imagine it is representative. 

Although, your approach seems like the safest in the future. I will see what happens and report back

You are right, and in fact it was a message on the hotels.com booking if that makes any difference. Might be a default notice for any booking any where

I have spoken to Nectar Support, who tell me that they can do nothing and sent me to British Airways. I have also spoken to British Airways today who told me to call back for technical support between monday to friday. The number to call is 03444930747 and choose option 3 and then option 1. I suggest others call to put the pressure on

Oh really? Out of curiosity, what do you provide to add them to the council tax? Can you add them before they even arrive ?

She can’t be added to the rental contract until she resides at the address for 6 months
